Casey Anthony Aquitted - Was Justice Served?
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:16:22 PM »
Thoughts?

Been hearing the OJ Simpson comparisons on the radio, but I really don't like to second guess a jury who actually heard all of the evidence, etc.

I watched every bit of the trial I could... I think she knows something, but I'm not sure what.

The prosecution didn't make any compelling argument that she murdered or had anything to do with any foul play in regards to the death of her child.

I do think she knows more than she's letting on, but there's just no evidence connecting her to the wrong doing.

Considering she's been in jail for 3 years awaiting trial, I'd say that she's pretty much got what I would expect her to receive.

My wife and one of my kids were obsessed with this trial.  I watched a good portion (not by choice), including the closing arguments.  I think they reached the correct result.  Dr. Michael Baden was all over TV talking about how they didn't establish a cause of death.  He said there was just as much a likelihood that the kid drowned as there was that she was murdered.  They really couldn't link up the kid's death with anything the mom did.

That is one screwed up family.   :-\

No comparison to the OJ case IMO.  OJ was guilty as sin.  At least with this woman, there is some question whether she killed her kid, or the kid drowned, etc.

Was justice served?  Who knows?  She has been in prison for three years and will likely serve another year or so.  We'll probably never know what really happened.  Unless she sells her story for a lot of cash.  And even then, she's a liar, so who knows if she will tell the truth.

From what I looked at, the DA royally screwed this up by over charging the defendant  and not have at least a plausible theory of the case.

From what I could tell,  would have aquitted to, even though I think something terrible happened.

I didn't watch one second of it but if the prosecution couldn't make the case then that's the way it goes

stench of death in trunk, 84 web searches for chloroform... doesn't report her missing kid for a month?

She deserves some serious prison time for that alone.

certainly looks bad but I wasn't aware any of the first two are crimes

not reporting the kid missing would seem like a form of child abuse or endangerment but wasn't she aquitted of that too

btw - I haven't followed this story at all but I assume the jury had more info than anyone else

I think she did it but the prosecution presented a horrendous case and we ended up with that verdict. Hopefully she'll get her comeuppance down the road.

She needs to have her genitals removed with a can opener. And anyone who actually believes she's innocent can get in line to be next. -EK

We have a legal system requiring the govt to prove its case.

And guess what?  Now the millions of dollars for her book deal and tv story.

Kill your kid, make a fortune.  Wait for all the copycats.

Interview with one of the alternate jurors.  http://video.foxnews.com/v/1039370051001/alternate-juror-casey-anthony-jury-made-right-decision

He's right:  they didn't establish cause of death.  Her father did sound like he was hiding something.  And the witnesses who testified about her parenting said she was a good mom.  (Although she wasn't so good at the end.)

define "good mom" in today's society...

Will she be looking for the real killer?

The witnesses said she loved her kid and took care of her.  She wasn't the ideal role model, but nobody who testified said she was a bad mom.

She's not OJ and doesn't need to look for the real killer, because she said the kid accidentally drowned.  Not sure if that's true, but it does eliminate the need to search for a killer.

stench of corpse in trunk...
84 web searches for chlorophyll..

doesn't call police for THIRTY DAYS when her kid is missing?

Then lies about it, making up people who stole her?  Sorry, this bitch is guilty.  Anyone who believes otherwise is a stone cold moron.

She probably is, but probably is not good enough for capital murder and the death penalty.

looks very bad but clearly the jury didn't think the prosecution proved her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt

that's just the way it goes sometimes

plenty of innocent people in jail as well as guilty people walking the street

if this chick is the scumbag she appears to be the odds are likely she'll wind up in jail at some point for something else

manslaughter was an option.

Did the DA charge that?

Did the DA charge that?

yeah, that was the second charge I think.  Everyone figured there'd be no felony murder, but the manslaughter charge would fly.

How so?

They couldnt  prove she killed her much less prove it was pre meditated.

Too many holes and not enough concrete evidence.

Any decent attorney can shred this case and from what I was told, (haven't verified it) that was her defense lawyers first murder trial.

Wouldn't surprise me if he took it for free for the publicity.  I'm wondering where she'll go now that she fucked over her parents.

I havent really followed this case much, so Im not going to comment much, but I will just say that I think there are too many people who have too broad of a definition of the term "reasonable doubt".

Problem was that the da did not even really present a thoery of the crime and left it up too to too much speculation.

Sad as it is too, it shows that keeping your mouth shut and not saying a damn thing pays off.
