Here's the thing. Yesterday, I was at a dinner with friends, and they served French cheeses with Cabernet as an appetizer. I ate massive amounts of Camembert, Gruyére and Comté. I started to feel dizzy and full, so I excused myself and went home to sleep. Today, I went to the gym to do a chest/shoulders wokout and I was massively stronger. I benched 315 lbs for 6 clean reps with the bar touching my chest. The previous workout, I did 3 reps with this weight. I front military pressed 180 lbs for 8 reps. This is a rep less than I did in my previous workout...but with 50 extra pounds stacked on the bar!!!!!! Not only that, I felt a lot fuller after the workout and I am feeling no soreness whatsoever.
Here is my theory: cheese, and especially French cheeses, are extremely rich in CLA. And unlike the CLA in supplements which the body does not absorb and utilize at all, the CLA in cheese is extremely bioavailable. Cheese and raw whole milk contain a lot of other fatty acids and co-factors that dramatically increase the body's ability to utilize CLA. The problem is that eating fatty French cheeses every day is not a solution, not only because these cheeses are extremely expensive, but also because, given the amount of saturated fats and Sodium they have, eating them every day is almost a garanteed myocardial infarction or stroke in less than a year. You should eat something that is 50% saturated fat in massive amounts no more than a few times a year.
I have come to the conclusion that CLA is the best bodybuilding supplement. End of story. Nothing else comes even close. Forget nitric oxide. Forget creatine, HMB, Glutamine, etc. This shit is for real. What supplement companies need to do is figure out a CLA in synthetic form that the body can actually absorb dammit.
