"Republican Candidate" Extends Lead vs. Obama to 47% to 39%
Margin marks first statistically significant lead among registered voters

PRINCETON, NJ -- Registered voters by a significant margin now say they are more likely to vote for the "Republican Party's candidate for president" than for President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, 47% to 39%. Preferences had been fairly evenly divided this year in this test of Obama's re-election prospects.

see, "republican candidate" isn't a mormon, isn't a RINO, isn't a moron from alaska, isn't running an anti-gay clinic, isn't citing lady gaga lyrics randomly, and doesn't do a whole lot to alienate anyone. So it's easy to be the perfect anti-obama when you're 0% polarizing.

And, as Dick Morris pointed out last night on O'Reilly, look at the undecided voters. Traditionally, when there is a race with an incumbent, about 80% of the undecided voters go to the challenger. Therefore, if the lady "running an anti-gay clinic" is behind 46-47 to Obama, that leaves 7% of voters undecided, 5.6 percent goes to her, which would put Bachmann up roughly 53-47.

DNC/Obama has a year, and one billion dollars, to let america know all of the negatives of the republican candidate.  If he's ahead of bachmann by 1 point now - despite all the shit he's shoveled down america's throat - there's the possibility he will go up more when she makes her gaffes and people learn about her positions on things.

I hope so.  However, as much as I like her consistency, I am starting to think a Huntsman would be more stable against Obama.  bachmann is remarkably consistent in her views, but is she electable?   Will middle of road americans look at the anti-gay clinic and be happy with that?

I'm just saying if I was a betting man, I'd say in a general election, huntsmann would do better than bachmann.  His personality (and wealth) may be stronger.  Experience too - dude lived chinese finance, she's never passed a single bill.

He's not going anywhere, if this economy keep tanking (unless he resurrects Bin Laden and kills him again).

Bachmann's been campaigning for about a month and she's right in the thick of it, within a point of Obama in Iowa ("anti-gay clinic" and all)?

And money doens't necessarily equate to success. If you don't believe me, ask the gay "marriage" bubbas, who outspend their opponents when it comes to their campaigns about state marriage amendments.

In my home state, gays and their sympathizers outspent the Amendment 2 supports, nearly 3 to 1. Amendment 2 passed 62-38 (and we have a 60% supermajority requirement).
