Obama, Romney, Rick Perry (and his national day of prayer), Ron Paul, etc., all of whom believe in God, have conversations with God, etc.

You really think voters who were inclined to vote for Bachmann, will now vote for Obama?  (Assuming she makes it out of the primary.)

I don't think she will make it as the GOP Presidential Candidate, I don't think you believe she will either, maybe you do.  She's going to lose votes in the primary, that's where it will cost her.  I don't see moderate republicans voting for her.

Now, in a national election, repubs will vote for her regardless, Don't know about independents.  Likely not.

Quote
I'm not really following how voters make that change based on her religious convictions, when those convictions mirror everyone else.  And when the vast majority of the public identifies themselves as Christian.  Being a committed Christian is an asset, not a liability, in a national political race.

And don't underestimate this woman.  I think she will be a serious player in the primaries/caucuses.

I agree about it being an asset, don't get me wrong, i just think not with a church Speech  like that.

Which viable primary candidate doesn't share her views?  That's where I'm not following you.  Unless you're saying people will not vote in the primary at all because they watch a clip of Bachmann talking about her faith.

I still think Romney is the front-runner, but I definitely believe Bachmann can win.  Just look at her poll numbers since announcing.  She has a great message.  She has a great background.  She's a good speaker.  She's tough and classy.  She's smart.  And most importantly, she has liberal hacks in a tizzy, so she must be doing something right.   :)

Good point.  Most guest speakers at churches are invited to speak.

Anyone still can win at this point.  What she did in that church won't be the sole reason of course, just a potential one to add to others.

What viable candidate spoke in a church like her?

For me there is a difference from proffessing it in a church the way she did versus the way it's used in a campaign.

LOL so somehow to you the idea that the other guy holds the same belief is ok, the fact that they voice their belief is ok

its just the venue in which they do it that is somewhat distasteful to you?

I don't know which ones spoke in a church, but I do know they all believe the same thing she does, and have publicly said many of the same things.

What I'm trying to get at is which primary candidate you think she will lose votes to, when they all share the same views?

Yeah, the way,the venue and the intention.  Not only distasteful, but borderline zealotry.  iMO.

She won't lose because of what she did in church, but she will lose votes because of it and in addition to other things that will come up.

Ozmo that's the point I'm trying to make.  You're saying she will lose votes because of her religious views, when every other viable candidate has the same views.

I am not saying that she will lose votes because of her religious views.  I am saying she will lose votes because speaking the way she did in her church will make her look like a zealot in some people's eyes.

When someone takes the opportunity to tell a group of people what she told them makes her a borderline zealot in my eyes.  now, I don't know enough about her to call her a zealot, but those clips point in that direction.  I wouldn't vote for her.  And to top it off, if it's correct, that church believing the pope is the anti- Christ tells me it's a church of nut jobs.

Kinda going in circles, but to which candidate?

What she said is what Christians say all the time.  That's classic church-speak.  We (those who regularly attend church) talk like that in church all the time.
