This "match" was lost when Megan Rapinoe was taken out of the game with 6 min left. She had played a brilliant game and was not winded. The girl they put in allowed the japanese to go right down field to set up that last goal.

The game was lost when Amy Rodriguez didn't start. 3 goals in 2 matches vs Japan. they went with a big lineup and got their pockets picked inside the 25. A-Rod is only 5'3"-5'4" and has really good dribbling skills like the little japanese. Keeps possession in traffic vs big ox women like Abby. HC shouldn't have made the change.

Japan outplayed them - simple as that - coupled with some players that should of started, and more. They figured, hey, the US has not lost 25 times in a row against Japan, so it should be an easy game. Little did they realize...

As for the penalty kicks - come on. Seriously. You train all year to try and make a field goal?

To paraphrase what announcer Ian Darke said during extra time, when you have as many opportunities early on as the USA did and you don't convert them, you usually pay a heavy price for it in the end.
