resume question
« on: July 29, 2011, 05:13:09 PM »
If it tacky/douchey to list athletic achievments on resume.

Example, cite any titles / records you've won in PL or any other sports?

Im leaning toward douchey but a buddy tells me, 'no, it shows dediction etc., employers love that'

input?

Should I put Bench Press, Squat, and Dead Lift numbers in my resume?

I'd respect a prospective employee much more that had a decent squat...  ;D

The employer may think you have a potential for roid rage. I would not include it.

I played the lead role in my 3rd grade play.   Should I include that?  ::)

Do not do it!  Unless the job is specifically related to athletics.  If you are applying to be an Associate Athletic Director or an Assistant Coach fine, otherwise references to your athletic prowess are unwarranted.

I don't see why not, but like someone else said, it depends on what job you're applying for - you have to tailor your experiences and achievements to the job, so that they can see you're dedicated towards going for that particular area.

I review lots of resumes every year and athletic achievements (among other things) always get my attention.  I'd list them at the end under an "interests" section.

Unless your job has some kind of amazing physical requirement... Don't do it.

You will come across as a buffoon.

Do like Dwight Schrute:

1. Professional Resume
2. Functional Resume
3. Dwight Schrute Trivia

Put your numbers in the Trivia section.

Be certain during the interview to advise the interviewer to muscle up with anabolics.

I think it matters whether the person reading the resume cares about the athletic event you are claiming, no?

Yea owning your own job is great in a lot of ways, but shit like this is kinda scary.

Independent contractors also get raped on taxes.
