Hundreds of tons of birth control should be dropped from cargo planes in cities around the country.

So now you want to be friends?  Nice of you, but I don't see that happening anytime soon, sorry.

Well you are right, I must admit I have been somewhat lax when I comes to reading any good books lately, what with holiday gatherings to attend and host, friends and family to visit with, presents to buy and such as is the norm for most of us this time of year. I need to hit our home library for some good re-reads and fire up the Nook for some new material.

What have interesting books have you read lately, that you would suggest? And don't say Atlas Shrugged again. I already read that, The Fountain Head and other Ayn Rand books back when I was in high school.

Couldn't agree more.

Require a $250,000 bond to be purchased before you're allowed to reproduce.

norquist: GOP can judo obama on fiscal cliff
« Reply #1013 on: December 15, 2012, 12:44:59 AM »
http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/norquist-fiscal-cliff-debt/2012/12/13/id/467634

“Obama will be on a very short leash, fiscally speaking, over the next four years,” he said. “He’s not going to have any fun at all, he may just have to go blow up small countries he can’t pronounce because it won’t be any fun to be here, because he won’t be able to spend the kind of cash he was hoping to.”

Republicans in Congress have called it irresponsible to go over the fiscal cliff for any reason, but Norquist said one of the most powerful tools the party has available is because of it: sequestration.

The fiscal cliff includes about $110 billion per year in spending cuts over the next decade, something that Norquist said Democrats don’t want because it actually cuts spending, rather than paying lip service to the idea.

Since 2009, the last time Congress passed a new budget, the Senate has offered an annual continuing resolution because members could not agree on a new spending plan. Norquist said this could be taken advantage of to force spending cuts or at least limit growth of government.

“Because the Senate doesn’t do its job, because Harry Reid plays politics instead of governing, they haven’t got a budget,” he said. “‘They do a continuing resolution … they still have to vote to allow that money to be spent, which means the House of Representatives has to agree to continue the budget. What they did in 2011, for about a month or two, they said, ‘We’ll extend the continuing resolution for a few weeks if you save four billion dollars.’”

Sometime early next year, the government will once again reach the debt ceiling, this, Norquist said, is the most powerful of the three tools available to the GOP.

Urgent: Will Raising Taxes Help or Hurt America?

“It will have to come up every month or so as Obama keeps hitting that ceiling,” Norquist said of the nation’s borrowing limit. “Republicans can raise it a little or a lot, or for a month or for six months. That gives them discipline as it did in 2011 to require spending restraint.”

Prime here is a good book to read:  http://www.arthurjonesexercise.com/GodLaughs/

The link is broken. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Follow-up:

I was able to get to the Arthur Jones site. I am a great believer in the benefits of using Nautilus equipment. I have read several publications with thorough instructions on how best you utilize Nautilus machines. I'll have to check my library to see if any of these were written by Arthur Jones.

As I have mentioned in another thread, I have been on a too long holiday from the gym. I need to get back into a routine that has provided me with excellent health all of my adult life and do it very soon. From my perspective, this past year has been a downward slide from the good health I have always enjoyed. While there are reasons or excuses for my "holiday" it is time for me to come back home again. As has been the case when taking time away from the gym in the past, I always begin working out as if starting from scratch. One of the best ways to do this (for me) is by using Nautilus machines and employing the strictest of movements and a very slow pace....twelve reps with the last couple of reps being near failure, but never to the extent of sacrificing form.

The gym I belong to has a full array of Nautilus equipment and other similar motion controlling machines as well as all the free weights anyone could want. I credit Nautilus with my never having injured myself while working out at the gym. By applying the Nautilus principals of controlled movement even when using free weights, it is next to impossible to sustain an injury from working out, IMO.
