these are all entertainment channels, with a targeted audience.

this is like starting a thread titled "why does BET play 100% rap videos when rap is only 25% of total sales" or "Why does the Cooking Channel focus 75% on dessert when it's only 20% of meals are dessert?"

The entertainment channels play what their target audience wants.  Most people want political news/commentary to match their personal beliefs.  Nobody watches "music channel" - they wouldn't watch NPR TV either.  They watch VHI for classics, BET for rap, etc.  They watch MSNBC for dem news, FOX for republicans news, and CNN for michael jackson/ UK royal family news.

Anyone who says otherwise is dumb and probably has sex with farm animals.

Socialism is busts and fed printing $$ giving it to incompetents like elon musk who piss it away and we are all then in debt nothing to show 4 it...

Why is this not basic for people?

Your thread title is the most idiotic in the history of Getbig since at this time, the U.S. economy is doing better than a ANY economy in the world, including China....also we have FULL EMPLOYMENT at 5%.....and creating 200,000 jobs a month........Wall st. is booming....

Well to answer the thread...cause he was black...andre voted for him because he was black...no other reason. Now we have Saudi Arabia and Iran gearing up for war...the rest of the middle east in shambles..NK doing what NK does...cause Bush or something. Russia is on the rebound and if their economy tanks...expect a war somewhere. Domestically the black dude in the Whitehouse has gutted the military both in manpower and equipment while using it as a grand social experiment t. In Obama's world science is only settled if its about climate change...cause apparently women are the same as men and can be Seals or some shit. Yeah oil is cheap...despite him...need I post the Obama quote about energy necessarily  needing to go up. Then we have unemployement...again great job Barry, we have a "real unemployment" rate around 10% because some people have just given up or watched their jobs turn into part time. Others have watched Obamacare blow their rates through the roof and they've lost their doctors.....but barry is part black and that's ok by andre. Good job andre you rock.

Well first of all I consider your post a victory because you constantly go off topic and talk about race when you have ABSOLUTELY NO RETORT...so you then have to torture your mind to come up with stuff that has nothing to do with the thread title and plus inject race into it like you usually do.....and then by page five of this thread you will proclaim ME to be the racist and say that I brought it up first like you always do....

the economy is doing great but you hate that because you need to blame daddy Obama for your problems...

What about the economy affects the average American most?

In my opinion its gotta be gas prices......people fill up their tanks at least once every two or three days and that adds up over the course of a year.....the difference between gas being $4 or $5 a gallon and $2 a gallon as it is now, is HUGE over the course of many years.....also lower oil and gas prices translates into lower costs for food and other goods due to decreased transportation costs.......PLUS it lowers the amount of taxes we pay on fuel and gas as well

which is why the author of this thread is dead wrong and looks silly saying that Obama mismanaged the economy...things have never been this good 8)....just ask Wall St.

Of course now I will be accused of being partisan even though its common knowledge that Wall st. is booming and has compounded its income an average of 14% per year sicne Obama has been in office, Unemployment is 5%, actually its now 4.9% according the January report....which is considered FULL EMPLOYMENT, gas prices are at $2 and even under $2 a gallon in some places, and we are now the number one producer of oil in the world......

YET, I"M ACCUSED OF BEING A PARTISAN AND MAKING THESE NUMBERS UP.....its a shame that Americans have become such whinners that we need to blame the President for EVERYTHING NEGATIVE that happens, and won't even acknowledge the good.

Hillary Clinton's Lead Over Sanders Nearly Vanishes

With just 21 days until the presidential primaries officially begin in Iowa, Hillary Clinton's support among Democrats nationally has taken a serious tumble, falling eight points to 43%, according to the latest IBD/TIPP Poll. Support for her chief rival, Bernie Sanders, rose six points to 39%.

As a result, Clinton's lead over Sanders, which had been 18 points, is now just four points.

Other polls have shown the race tightening in Iowa, which holds its caucuses on Feb. 1, and New Hampshire, which has its primary eight days later. Two recent New Hampshire surveys have Sanders in the lead, and the latest NBC poll in Iowa has Sanders just three points behind Clinton.

But the IBD/TIPP Poll is the first to show the race significantly tightening nationwide.

Clinton Goes On Attack

Clinton, in response to her sagging poll numbers, has started to turn up the heat on Sanders, after all but ignoring the self-described socialist whose maverick campaign has been surprisingly resilient. CNN reported over the weekend that "a sense of anxiety is cascading through Hillary Clinton's campaign" over Sanders' gains.

Clinton recently attacked Sanders on his position on gun control, and released a campaign ad in Iowa and New Hampshire asserting that she is "the only one" who can beat whoever the Republican Party nominates.

And on Monday, in a clear attempt to appeal to Sanders' supporters, Clinton announced in Iowa her plans to impose a 4% "fair share surcharge" on incomes over $5 million. Sanders has proposed a series of tax hikes on the rich in the name of "income equality."

Clinton in recent weeks also has decried drug "price gouging" and attacked big merger deals, despite receiving heavy Wall Street donations, to try to shore up her left flank.

The IBD/TIPP Poll shows that regionally, Clinton saw her support drop most in the Northeast (where it fell to 36% from 50%) and the West (37% down from 49%). Sanders now holds the lead in both places. Clinton support also tumbled among suburban voters, dropping to 39% from last a month's 50%. And she has lost backing among moderate Democrats, falling to 44% from 58%. Sanders picked up 10 points among moderates, to 37%.

Trump Extends GOP Lead

On the GOP side, Donald Trump extended his lead over his GOP rivals, with 34% now backing the real estate tycoon, up from 27%. His support is now nearly equal to his three closest rivals combined.

Supreme Court conservatives appear ready to overturn mandatory union fees

People participate in a Jan. 11 rally at the Supreme Court in Washington as the justices heard arguments in Friedrichs vs. California Teachers Assn. (Jacquelyn Martin / Associated Press)
   David G. SavageContact Reporter
Reporting from Washington
The Supreme Court's conservative justices signaled Monday they are ready to deal a severe defeat to public employee unions by striking down mandatory fees paid by teachers and other public employees in about half the nation.

The ideological and political divide among the nine justices was evident throughout Monday's argument. The court's four Democratic appointees said the court should stick with its long-standing rule that unions can charge a "fair-share fee" to all employees who benefit from collective bargaining.

See the most-read stories this hour >>
But the court's Republican appointees sounded united in their determination to overrule the 1977 decision that upheld these fees.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said teachers who disagree with their union are being forced to subsidize union efforts to block merit pay or link salaries to classroom performance, even if they don't support such goals. These "are matters of public concern," he said, but the dissenting teachers are "being silenced."

Kennedy referred to the union fees as "coerced speech."

Supreme Court weighs union fees for teachers: Is it a matter of free speech?
In many of the court's arguments, the justices ask questions of both sides and appear at least open to persuasion. But in Monday's argument, all the justices sounded as though they had made their decision.

At issue are the laws in California and 22 other mostly "blue" states that authorize public employee unions to act as a bargaining agent and to collect "fair-share fees," also known as agency fees, from all employees. Under a previous Supreme Court ruling, employees are not required to pay a second part of the union dues, which supports political activities.

Three years ago, Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. raised questions about the agency fees and suggested they may violate the employee's rights under the 1st Amendment. In response, a small conservative group in Washington launched a lawsuit in California to challenge the practice.

Editor Davan Maharaj delivers the day's top headlines >>
Justice Elena Kagan said that striking down agency fees would upset "tens of thousands" of collectively bargained contracts and could impact as "many as 10 million employees".

But Michael Carvin, lawyer for the nine California teachers who sued, downplayed the significance of the impending decision. He said more than nine out of 10 teachers in California pay the full union dues, including for political activities, so a loss of the agency fees would have only a minor impact, he said.
