So, is San Diego a nice place to live?
« on: August 04, 2011, 03:28:30 PM »
I am considering applying for a job there but to be honest I am not a sunny, warm weather person. What's the temperature usually like? is it dry heat or high humidity and what is living in California like in general compared to say, NYC?
I hate the State.

It's a great climate.  That dark cloud that follows you around would definitely stand out.

i usually go, for the
Gas Lamp District
San Diego Padres vs Dodgers
Sea World
Zoo
Charges vs Raiders
kansas City BBQ (filmed Top Gun there)

Its really a nice city, Thoe the Gas Lamp has turned to kind of a Mini Skid Row with all the bums

San Diego is one of the coolest places I've been to. Honestly, if I could choose one city to live in worldwide, it would probably be San Diego.

Bursche, I am looking for jobs, there is one in San Diego that seems cool that I am qualified for but I am not too keen on the place. That's all my question was about.

Is there a place you call home? If so, which one?

I have never felt at home anywhere, but I spent my childhood in New York.

To be honest I am really keen on a job I applied for in Cologne, because it sounds cool and I have friends there. The San Diego one sounds cool too but I would prefer a place like Cologne.
I hate the State.

San Diego have year round a climate that feels like you are inside a climate controled enviroment...the perfect Humidity, the perfect temperature, at night long sleeves feel good even in the summer.

Just be sure the job pays enough.

You, Tom, and a million other people.  When you have a firm job offer in hand, let's talk. Otherwise keep daydreaming.  ::)

If you make $50,000 in Houston,...you have to make $73,000 in San Diego to have a similar lifestyle.

The gestalt is that San Diego is 46% more expensive overall;  Housing is 115% more expensive.

could not find a calcualtor comparing London, United Kingdom and Sand Diego...

Looks like I'll be in Mira Mesa but it's close to work and the university.  Expensive as hell vs Chula Vista, N City and Bonita.

San Diego is an awesome city but like Nails mentioned the bums have been getting out of control these past years.  Otherwise it's a great place to live.  Beautiful weather, women, affordable in many areas etc.  Much better than LA and if you don't want the suburban feel a lot better than OC.  I love SD.  Just a very diverse crowd down there than the OC and LA.
