According to a fella on Ironage that knows Sergio and other oldtime Chicago lifters, Sergio was recently stuck up for his famous watch, gold chain, etc.... and it was a tremendous blow to his psyche. He won't make public apperances anymore because he doesn't want his fans to remember him in an aging and weakened state.

Shame to hear that.

Nah, Jones was prone to hyperbole. Take the pullover to ball busting failure and take squats to ball busting failure. Not even close. You can be in great shape and condition just doing squats. Doesn't mean you'll look like a bodybuilder but if you are banging out ass to heels squats for 20 reps and not pausing at the top with even just 185 lbs you are going to be heads and tails about the average masses as far as conditioning. If you just did Nat Pullovers you may have developed lats in comparison to the rest of your body but you are not really going to be in that great athletic condition.

I'm 5'7'' and when I met him back in 2004 he seemed to be 5'8'' TOPS!

His arms were so huge it looks like he has 4 legs.

I recall Ben or Joe Weider's son asking his father, "Who's that guy on stage with 4 legs?" The kid was referring to Sergio.
