Was a real nice guy the times I hung out with him. Its a shame people can't just leave their respects and move on.

I agree, it's a shame..

RIP Luke

Does anyone think some other OTC products will stress your kidneys? I tend to take a couple benadryl to help me sleep as I work nights now. They seem to dehydrate me pretty badly, any risk with those?

years of high dose anabolic steroid use can cause high blood pressure
if LUke Wood was not using blood pressure meds to keep hi BP normal this could have been a major factor in kidney damage

NSAID's/antiinflammtory meds can also damage the kidneys
add to the mix, DIURETICS , which all BB /finess/figure/natural competitors use, then there alot fo risk factors for kidney failure

lUKE MAY ALSO have been diabetic if he was an insulin abuser, often with too much external insulin, the body's own pancreas shuts down. If Luke had diabetes and it was poorly controlled this may have been another contributor to kidney damage.

i wonder how Milos "the guru" feels now?

at the start of lukes kidney problems which forced him to retire, he was a guest on dave pulumbos radio show and said a factor was from all the protein powder. im sure the interview is still out there somewhere

firstly ... luke was a very close friend of mine.   im deeply saddened by this news ... im shocked and lost for words.   luke was doing fine , he was healthy , eating well and training very hard. He was called in a week ago for a kidney transplant.   I spoke with him yesterday , and although in pain from the operation . was in good spirits.  he developed an infection , and his body rejected the kidney , then he got a blood clot and passed.

    - for the tool bag asking about lukes kidney problems, he had a defect in his kidney from birth.

RIP my brother . I will miss you

Hmm I guess it's a good thing I haven't had a shake in years haha. I was planning on feeding in 1 isolate/oats shake per day for the rest of my prep, hopefully it won't kill me.

So is Luke a victim of the mega high protein wave that swept bodybuilding a few years back? Seems guys were taking in 600 grams a day etc etc. I never go higher than 250...

i wonder if there's a relationship between people who have a predisposition to kidney problems, and those who enter bodybuilding.

Perfect!  The guy has got a kidney defect from birth so lets make it better by adding insulin, anabolics, theromgenics ect to your body then shake, pose and pray.

Foolishness!

no.

you can eat 1000 grams of protein per day and it wont effect your kidneys. you can have high levels of certain metabolic wastes and by products that otherwise would be indicative of health issues but are normal with high protein consumption.

if you have a weak kidney, it is advised you do not eat much protien because doing so takes away from the kidneys ability to recover itself.  as long as the kidney is healthy there are no issuess the "mega high protein".

if the t3 was being used at very high doseages for years on end it could cause premature death since its basically excellerated every process in the body- accelerating the aging process.

but that doesnt seem to be the case.

he had kidney problems, tried a transplant, but died after surgery cuz his body rejected the new kidney.

whatever is responsible for his death is nephrotoxic, like diuretics are.

I don't know what you guys are talkin about...

There were two people in my life who told me to use less diuretics than I wanted to (before my shows)...
