Interesting point - i think a combination of drugs and better access to leg training machines etc.

that's how it's supposed to be

Heh. Some didn't train legs at all. It's looked pretty ridiculous in some cases.

Stupid comparison. More then stupid.

If you don't know why then you have no idea about bodybuilding.

It's the GH and Insulin that makes the freaks of today. Nothing more.

No better training, visualization, midday-naps, orange juice, measuring scales, equipment, mind-over-matter, willpower or better walking shoes.

AT least 6 times the dose of AAS, 20-30 IU GH and 100-150 IU Insulin.

Case closed

screw you hater

They didn't have such big legs back then cos they thought it looked stupid.
I agree with the old timers ways, chafing thighs are a nuisance  :-\

it's because of lazyness... arnold was less a bodybuilder and more of a guy hungry for fame and power who saw bodybuilding as a means of getting attention, his legs were small cuz he didn't train them, he'll do squats for the camera but when the camera is off he picks up two barbells and watches himself in the mirror doing curls cuz he's a narcissist

Yup, I have the same issue.  Not good for an active person.

This.

Plus I dont think the "oldtimers" really liked training legs...maybe precontest to "bring out the detail".

Nowadays bbers train them year round. on and offseason.

This board should have the rule that any poster that says something bad about Arnold will suffer the consequences...

Bullshit. Alot of the oldtimes trained their legs 2-3 x week for hours at a time, that is fact.

They did.  It's just that none of them wanted to look like piggies. ;D Overdeveloped hamstrings and asses makes a person look like a disproportionate moron. It's the same with those huge, albeit muscular guts.   Who in their right mind wants a 44" inch or larger waist, even if it's muscular?

The same holds true for an ass that's gotta be at least that big around teetering over a pair of thighs measuring Buddha knows what...40"?

Its gotta be training more than drugs.  Legs werent as big a priority back then as today, especially hamstrings.  Tom Platz didnt have access to the drugs BB have today but his legs would fit perfectly on an Olympia stage today.  Arnold squating 315 and Ronnie squating 585 for 10.  Cmon.  Drugs only do so much.  Heart and intensity is required for the rest!!!

just because someone doesn't squat 600-700 lbs doesn;t mean they don;t train hard. try squatting 315 for sets of 15-20 reps with little rest between sets..its alot harder. not only that but jay goes for volume sometimes going up to 30 sets for his legs. just a different way of training

They definitely train legs more than they used to.

The drugs are "just the finishing touch".

All thanks to new scientific findings in regard to hypertrophy training and nutrition timing, PLUS they didn't have creatine back then.

True... and with Cell Tech being better than steroids, it makes sense.
