Wow, that would suck, the minute you hear the rope snap and you have a few moments to reflect on how stupid it was to do that, "if only I didn't jump today, I'd still be alive tomorrow" type reflecting. $:-\$

Honestly, he simply forgot about safety and didn't check that rope....after being in the weather for 3 weeks. It would have held if he was just doing a standard rappel but he was doing a free fall jump so he should have definitely used a new rope. But its obvious that he was rushing to get his fix as he sped past the climber and ran up the mountain yelling "we're going now".

That's the thing with adreneline junkies, they crave for it so much that they put themselves at grave danger. Free solo climbs, free fall jumping, etc....all of that is just asking for trouble. That's not someone who has balls of steel but someone who thinks that they are indestructible and don't believe that they can die.

I always shake my head when people say - WOW he's so brave!!! - thats not bravery, bravery is to do something that you would never ever do and you don't want to do it but you do it anyways since it is needed to be done.

On osman's death, a guy I know who is an experienced climber said dan was only really famous for how risky is jumps were, not necessarily or being good, and the setup for his last jump was flawed, two ropes were positioned so that they rubbed against each other, basically if they are set up this way eventually one will snap and it did

that would be my biggest fear. getting stuck

LOL these guys spend HOURS AND HOURS climbing these same routes with and without ropes. You think they just look up at a mountain and say hey I think I'll climb this mountain freestyle. That particular 5.7 route in CA has been climbed by thousands. It's a pretty well known route.

Anyways, what a selfish dumbass. Why bring a fucking child in the world and life your life on the edge of death like that. He had a life wish? Yeah right.........he's just another dumbass adrenaline junkie. Ego got him killed. Some of these extreme sports guys are the biggest idiots around. As if climbing with ropes isn't hard and cool enough they gotta push the limit with free falling and what not? Just stupid. I can think of a hundred and one things that are just as cool and exciting and challenging as free climbing and doing stupid shit ilke this guy did. And they would rarely result in death if you fuck up............lol life wish..........yeah hope it was worth it buddy.
