Melvin Anthony was hailed as the second coming of Flex Wheeler---same shape, smaller waist, 5'8, one of craziest BDB tapers in the business. Great poser. Has one arm that has the Coleman double peak. But, sadly, had Flex's trouble areas, lower back, glutes and hams were harder to get conditioned, especially at higher bodyweights. Dex had told him to stop trying to compete at higher bodyweights. He didn't listen. Also, he didn't take the dieting serious enough nor training calves)
So now what happens? A dude who is 5'9, an amalgam of Flex and Levrone comes on the scene in 2006, gets his conditioning down pat and slowly adds weight, and is CONSISTENT. And now is the Mr. O.
This is lesson for the genetically gifted, if your ass doesn't take getting in conditioning as serious as you do your pop-locking posing, you gets NOWHERE!
Okay, he did place 5th at th O in 2005 And won the NY Pro, but he could have had a couple ACs, Ironmans, and possibly even 2nd place at the O or even win it.
