I just researched FLYING DREAMS because I do that a lot and here is what one "expert" has to say ..

Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams known as lucid dreams. Lucid dreams occur when you become aware that you are dreaming. Many dreamers describe the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience.

If you are flying with ease and are enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a new and different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.

Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft or stay on set course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may be obstacles that you encounter in flight. These obstacles symbolize something or someone who is standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify what or who is trying to prevent you from moving forward. Difficulty flying may also be an indication of a lack of confidence or some hesitation on your part. You need to believe in yourself and not be afraid.

If you are feeling fear when you are flying or that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success. Perhaps you are not ready to take the next step.

In reality, we cannot really fly, of course. Thus, such dreams can be representative of things that are beyond your physical limitations. In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and that nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Such dreams are sure to leave you with a great sense of freedom.

Not true. You can defenitly fly without it being a lucid dream :) I actually think thats more common then not.

Not enough, but anywhere from 0-6, never sleep more than 6 and always wake up multiple times during the night.

I had lots of flying dreams, but only one of those was lucid. That one was very cool, when I woke up I tried to get it back but it never happened again...

I don't sleep while any traveling. Air travel means the bar. Not the hardy aviator I used to be.  :-\

No details here but I've been in  way too many aircraft mishaps to be comfortable during flights any more.

I'm one of those passengers who think that the pilot will fall asleep as soon as I close my eyes, so I'm wide awake the entire flight.

But a short while back my brother gave me a pill that was supposed to be divided into four equal parts and I was supposed to take one of those four parts, but I was in a rush and forgot to break it into four parts and took the whole dame pill as I got on my 6 hour flight.

I fell asleep before taking off and had to be shaken awake after all the other passengers had departed.

And then good friends met me at the baggage claim area and  wanted to go out drinking and I was still too damn stupored to say,"No!".

So after a couple of very strong Margaritas at a high class Mexican restaurant, my head fell asleep into my enchaladas and I ended up getting carried out of the hacienda  and woke up two days later feeling like I was ready to start the 'party' all over once again.

So we hopped in the car and drove to Las Vegas.

What the hell was in that pill anyway!?

I mean, for a transatlantic flight, whatever, it's fine but really long ones like 12 hours+...it sucks.

No, SWEDE! That particular episode I described above was ZANEX Part 1. (Wrong spelling maybe)

But I can write many hundreds of Hangover episodes.

Speaking of transatlantic flights (transpacific) a family member just flew down to NZ direct from LAX and the 13 hour flight cost $14,000 dollars. It was something like Ultra First Class which of course includes pajamas and little bunny slippers and a private sleeping area.

I am told that if I fly down to see them while they are in NZ, they'll pay for my $900 ticket. Those cheap bastids!!!

I have never woken up feeling rested in my entire life

You need a sleep study,...I will wager you have sleep apnea.
