Well, personally I am someone with an obvious bias as I have been attacked by two pitbulls and had my achilles tendon severed and arm mauled and couldn't walk unassisted for six months and still suffer psychologically from it now.  I actually rarely leave the house as a result of this.  It cost me about $50,000 so far out of my own pocket.  I know some dogs are OK, but personally, ask any council about how many complaints that get about dogs, barking, trespassing, attacking other dogs, etc... it goes on and on.  I learnt there is a judge at the local court who all they do all day long every day is handle dog offence cases, this is at a huge expense to taxpayers etc... Personally. I think dogs are smelly, ugly, loud, unintelligent creatures who are easily controlled by whoever provides a food source.  I think this is why people like dogs, they feel omnipotent and all powerful in front of the dog, all just for filling a food and water bowl.

Well, I can certainly understand how you wouldn't like dogs. If I'd had your experience, I wouldn't like them either. But I would feel hatred toward the folks who had the Pit bulls and didn't manage them properly. Dogs who aren't bathed periodically are smelly. Dogs who are allowed to bark or run free uncontrollably are annoying and sometimes dangerous. I am not a Pit Bull fan, so I would agree that Pit Bulls are not handsome dogs....but that is just a personal opinion. Surely there are folks who think they're really great. Dogs are very dependent on their owners for food, water and shelter....much like children are. I probably am the "alpha dog" in the eyes of the two dogs we have. However, I don't think being in charge of the dogs makes me special or omnipotent....anyone who does, needs to have their head examined.

Good to know. I guess then that I am just one tough son-of-a-bitch. LOL! I've had a couple of surgeries where the doctor prescribed pain killers during recovery. I refused to take them because I don't like the way they make me feel. One surgery was a hernia surgery. The nurse kept saying that it had to hurt and I should take the pain meds. Getting cut hurts, I won't deny that. It just didn't hurt enough for me to want to get high on pain meds. I did let the doctor inject a local into my big toe before he cut off the toenail while I watched. Even for this tough old bird, that probably would have been a little more pain than I wanted to feel.

I know, that's a little dramatic, but you are top of the heirachy. I am cat person, and i forgot to mention, dogs kill cats, rarely will a cat kill a dog.

My son is a cat person too. He's OK with dogs also but he seems to gravitate more to cats. Cats are less work since they are so independent acting. They still depend on humans for food and shelter, but many seem disinterested in affection from humans. Unfortunately, I am very allergic to cats. I am allergic to dogs as well, but the symptoms aren't as pronounced, especially if I bathe them every other week to keep their dander down.

Even in the wil;d Cats are not safe from Dogs.  Living in prides and/or coalitions, lions almost never face any challenge from single predators. But they do face challenges from hyenas and wild dogs. “Wild dogs have been reported to kill lions in the Kruger National Park ……

Hopefully, if you have any pets, you live in a warm and hospitable climate. It is generally advised that people keep cats indoors because they face so many hazards when they are outside cats.

Just as some folks don't want children, which is fine, some folks don't want pets, which is also fine.

We have two cats that are permanently outdoor cats and two Greyhounds that are permanently indoor.  Cats do much better outdoors vs. indoors as long as you keep their claws on.

I aim to get a horse soon.

To keep a horse properly takes as much, if not more, money than a human being.
Roughly the same as a luxury car.

Will you keep the horse in your house? Kidding! I had horses when I was a kid. Onetime, my parents walked our year old filly in through the back door of our house, through the kitchen and out the front kitchen door into the front yard. Somewhere in the garage is some old 8 mm film  on which is recorded this crazy event.

Greyhounds get cold really easily. -Good that yours are house pets. They need a soft bed to sleep on too. We had a Great Dane many years ago. She had her own twin bed to sleep on. Our dogs are mostly in the house. They can go outside whenever they chose through a series of dog doors which accesses the back yard. It rain a lot in Oregon. For some reason, the dogs don't seem to like going out much in the rain. -Spoiled!

That is some crazy shit you went through. I don't believe I ever had good enough genetics to compete. Your post makes me feel good about my choice to weight train just to be fit and healthy as opposed to trying to win a plastic trophy and sacrifice my health in the process.

It wasn't that there is anything wrong with competitive bodybuilding. It was just my over extreme approach in 2007 that set me up for failure, I took things way too far, thinking isolating myself would make me better. I put all my eggs in one basket at the expense of everything else in life and when I failed, it was a very bitter pill to swallow.

I still compete but now when I'm prepping I'm way more balanced, They way I approach it now is to "set it and forget it" I don't obsesses about Bodybuilding anymore, let it take over my life or even talk to anyone much about it. In fact most people I work with don't even know I'm dieting & getting ready for a show. If I'm hungry on the diet I just  keep it to myself and don't complain & talk about it all the time. Generally just keep things in priority and get on with my everyday life. I spend more time with my family, supportive positive friends (have refeeds "cheat days" going to restaurants each week helps to  keep me sane) and make sure my work is my number one priority, not bodybuilding.

There was a happy end to this story…In 2009 I actually got back on the horse , requalified for the IFBB classic world champs in Spain again, This time made my weight at the weigh-in  ;) and ended up coming 8th in the World in a very big lineup (Out of 30 National champions ) I didn't win it but doing it was a personal redemption for me and an awesome experience! :)

Good for you. Some folks never learn from their experiences. You have.

I am convinced that well rounded people are generally happier and more fulfilled than those who, as you say, put all their eggs in one basket.

no I was a kid

urinary infection

You know like in the movie Green Mile when Tom Hanks is almost dying when he piss

exact same thing

I had that with my kidneys. Pissed blood for about 4 months. Clotted blood for a while too.

The pain in my kidneys was so sore I would vomit.

Not the worst thing to happen to me but a horrible experience. I had a camera shoved up my dick and it stung for a while after that too.

My former urologist had me doing a cystoscopy every year because I once had a growth in my bladder. After awhile, I actually got used to having a camera inserted into my urethra. The doctor would numb the first inch or so of the urethra which is where most of the nerve endings are anyway.

That urologist retired. My new urologist doesn't think it is necessary to continue this annual test which is fine by me.

Have you ever had you prostate biopsied? Not a lot of fun, I can tell you.

I'll play.

My dad split when I was a baby...2 years old. so growing up as a young boy I wasn't the happiest kid around....I really couldn't handle it. When I was 9 my Mom remarried, and her new husband and I really hit it off...he was the only one who "got" me and had the patience to help me get through some stuff, and I started doing good in school again, being more social...etc.  So on my 13th Birthday I get a knock on the door and it was the Cops....he was trying to fix something on his truck, and the air brakes let go....and his head was crushed. At least he didn't even know what hit him...I still miss that guy.
