Over the years, many have claimed 2% bodyfat. Yes, 2%. It is incredible. Your whole body enzymatic systems would collapse if you were at 2% bodyfat, and yet these guys survive and are stong enough to stand and post their pictures. It is incredible.

SUCKMYMUSCLE

You still haven't come up with any names of guys on Getbig who have claimed 3% bodyfat. Now you're saying 2%.

You have really bad reading comprehension. Read my post...I said that for an extremely precise measurement you need to do an MRI of your entire body. The hydrostatic weighting is slightly less precise, but still precise enough to still be regarded as the gold standard. The new gold standard will either use X-rays or MRI that can discriminate adipose tissue. The margin of error will be only about 0.2% bodyfat.

SUCKMYMUSCLE

You were incorrect in your original post.  You said "GSP undergoes hydrostatic body composition measurement, the "gold standard" of assessing body fat"

that is wrong on two counts:

a)  The Bod Pod is air displacement NOT hydrostatic.
b)  The Bod Pod is not the "gold standard". Neither is hydrostatic underwater testing.

Even your second post is not entirely correct.  MRI is NOT the gold standard. Dexa scan is.  Magnetic resonance imaging is not the same thing as Dual X-ray Absorptiometry.

Honestly, who cares.  He's leaner than both of us.

::)

GSP doesn't have near the muscle mass of a bodybuilder in the first place, nor does he have nearly the same condition of a competing bodybuilder

useless thread, no offense

nobody here has claimed 3% bodyfat, some have claimed 5% (wich was bullshit for most)

GOD DAMM THANK YOU

GSP trains for MMA purposes, not to have the highest level of muscle with lowest level of bodyfat. Some fucks will come up with anything to put a bodybuilder down.

Useless brain you have. No offense. At least you have big muscles to make up for it, although your bodyfat has never been lower than 7%.

yeah I have never been as ripped as George St-Pierre  8)

Suckmymuscle's logic: GSP is a professional athlete so if he is almost 8%, nobody has been lower than that.

makes sense  ;D

ok so a bodybuilder, who's goal is to be THE LEANEST he can be, cannot be more ripped than someone who trains for MMA that doesn't even give a shit about his physical apperance

yes, it makes sense

  Three things:

  1. He doesen't have that many striations.

  2. Striations are genetic and not completely dependent on bodyfat. Ronnie had visible striations on his shoulders when he was 10-15% bodyfat in the offseason.

  3. He is about 10-12% bodyfat in the picture he posted.

Do you really think that random Getbiggers who go to the gym three times a week and do an hour of cardio a day or so are going to have less bodyfat than a professional athlete who follows a strict diet and trains for 6 to 10 hours a day, every day? Get real. We are not talking about professional bodybuilders here who diet for months on skinless chicken breasts, brown rice and steamed broccoli and take a ton of drugs. I have already said that pro bodybuilders on their best contest shape are probably around 5% bodyfat, or the same as a professional marathoner who runs up to 100 miles a week. But random Getbiggers at 5% bodyfat? No, just no. You would know if you had 5% bodyfat because you would feel very sick and get colds all the time as the immune system becomes weakend when you drop to this level of bodyfat. In the picture you posted you are around 10% bodyfat. You people have no idea what 5% bodyfat is. That is slightly more than an Auschwitz survivor.

Yep, he is leaner than you. Higher vascularity and striations mean nothing as striations are genetic and vascularity is enhanced by steroids at any bodyfat level.

If you look up gsp's old fights in korea, he was way more hormonized, I think he was a bodybuilder first and fell into mma and kept with it because of talent, and fuck what this guy has to say with his fucking fat % machine

Also, it is impossible to tell who has more bodyfat by way of pictures alone.  In order to end this debate, you would need to measure bodyfat levels for both guys in person.  Pictures tell a different story.

I've seen guys with very little vascularity, yet tremendous muscle density, who carry less bodyfat than someone with more apparent vascularity and less muscle mass.

Stavios, maybe you should call GSP,
