I'm sure, the reading audience, being the successful Getbiggers that they are, have had to fire people from their gym, maid service, laundry service, etc..at some point.Did you have mental anguish? Did it hinder your contest prep?
Yes, about three years ago, its a shitty feeling, but dude was taking money under the table which should have been coming to our company. he started crying.I was very CLOSE to firing someone last week but other managers asked me to give them a second chance which I did but I warned them and told them if that same infraction happened they will not be coming back, also made them repeat my words in a staff meeting the following week for dramatic purposes!
damn, laying down the iron fist like a pharoah. are you managing a business cocurrently with your pursuit of a phD?
Yes, I work in a family business (HVAC manufacturing), and (don't laugh) I also own and operate, with my wife, two small ladies-only gyms in Egypt. AND I also work as a graduate student assistant on campus in conjunction to my phd
wow, thats quite an accomplishment. great to see some high acheiving getbiggers here
LOL nah, when and if I ever finish the phd, now THAT will be an accomplishment. Its one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.Next month I have a pretty big milestone in the program, have to take an 8 hour exam and it determines whether I move on to the next phase in the program or whether they kick me out LOL .... No pressure!
Fired someone this morning. I thoroughly enjoy it.
Lol. Yep. Hurt me more than them. I favor the "The restricted budget that our contracts force on us means I have to scale back to a bare bones staff. Appreciate your help but I have to let you go." approach. Sounds better than "You're lazy and incompetent and I'm sick of having to pay you for the privilege of looking at your stupid fat face every goddamned day while you screw everything up. So you can just fuck off and go serve frenchfries somewhere."
My Brother wanted to start a company or have the specific job in which he was hired to fire people..."You're Fired" (throwing a paper airplane at the person)."Sorry that you were sick yesterday, and your newborn has the Flu, but you are fired."
I'd say in most instances the people I've had to let go, have actually fired themselves by their own actions.I don't feel any empathy in those situations.
how can you manage your gym in Egypt while you are here in the US?
So I have to ask do you think going into a field of work where you pretty much have to fire people on a weekly or monthly basis is a good idea. I'm planning on getting involved in safty shit in industry, and apparently it's a great job minus you have to shit on and fire people constantly. I feel my getbig experience will at least land me an interview.
