I'm sure, the reading audience, being the successful Getbiggers that they are, have had to fire people from their gym, maid service, laundry service, etc..at some point.

Did you have mental anguish? Did it hinder your contest prep?
The answer is "yes".

Lol.  Yep.  Hurt me more than them.  I favor the "The restricted budget that our contracts force on us means I have to scale back to a bare bones staff.  Appreciate your help but I have to let you go." approach.  Sounds better than "You're lazy and incompetent and I'm sick of having to pay you for the privilege of looking at your stupid fat face every goddamned day while you screw everything up.  So you can just fuck off and go serve frenchfries somewhere."

Yes, about three years ago, its a shitty feeling, but dude was taking money under the table which should have been coming to our company.  he started crying.

I was very CLOSE to firing someone last week but other managers asked me to give them a second chance which I did but I warned them and told them if that same infraction happened they will not be coming back, also made them repeat my words in a staff meeting the following week for dramatic purposes!

Yes, I work in a family business (HVAC manufacturing), and (don't laugh) I also own and operate, with my wife, two small ladies-only gyms  in Egypt.  AND I also work as a graduate student assistant on campus in conjunction to my phd

LOL nah, when and if I ever finish the phd, now THAT will be an accomplishment.  Its one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Next month I have a pretty big milestone in the program, have to take an 8 hour exam and it determines whether I move on to the next phase in the program or whether they kick me out LOL  .... No pressure!

Comps!? Just keep yapping, as you do here on Getbig. Spread the Big Ach around so much that they have almost no negative criticism. Academia is vaunted, but it is also inbred. Take advantage of that congenital nonsense.  ;)

My Brother wanted to start a company or have the specific job in which he was hired to fire people...

"You're Fired" (throwing a paper airplane at the person).

Except when you're on the receiving end of that speech and you know that you're being fed a line of bullshit.

The thing about it, for me anyway, is I'm one of the hardest working people I know.  I try to lead by example.   So if you slack off, purposefully, I have no problem kicking you out.

I'd say in most instances the people I've had to let go, have actually fired themselves by their own actions.

I don't feel any empathy in those situations.

Yeah same here, people in this day in age wanna get fired from the way I see it, unless it's some arbitrary shit swearing in the office or something.

Years ago I was fooled for a long time by an employee that was an alcoholic. I'm not much of a drinker, had never been around that type of behavior, and couldn't really spot the signs. I gave him way too many chances. He abused every chance we gave him. In the end the family even went as far as to lie and cover for him.

Never made that mistake again.

So I have to ask do you think going into a field of work where you pretty much have to fire people on a weekly or monthly basis is a good idea. I'm planning on getting involved in safty shit in industry, and apparently it's a great job minus you have to shit on and fire people constantly. I feel my getbig experience will at least land me an interview.

I imagine any position of authority will put you in something like that, maybe not weekly LOL.... Getbig experience definitely helps!
