What, 11 views not enough for you??!!!! >:( ::) ;D

E board is a work in progress, hopefully it'll pick up more & more over time.

As for titles, if you don't mind old school games, try Doom 3, Doom: Resurrection of Evil, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Half Life 2, Far Cry series, Black and Area 51, as well as some of the ones mentioned before in this thread. Not sure if all of those titles are on PS 2/PS 3, but a lot of them are.

it had 3 views yesterday...  :-[ :-[

thanks for the games list!

I moved up the meeting for the Sport/Entertainment board Collaborative Marketing Initiative (CECMI) to next week.  Ron's been frugal with the '12 budget, but, I think if we can think of some more creative mediums of promotion, he'll open up the purse strings a little.  Start thinking now.

Is PS3 backwards compatible with PS2 games or is it just for a few titles ala the Xbox? Too bad you can't play the Halo series - it's an awesome FPS experience.

i think it's only a few games, anyways i'm too much a sucker for great looks and HD games, probably won't be playing any PS2 games soon, there's too many great games i missed on the PS3 already, Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed, God of War 3, the Spider-Man and Marvel games, then there's the new Batman game coming....

the list is endless and unfortunately i don't have as much time to play as i had 10 years ago....  :-X :-X

halo is without a doubt the most competitive, once you get past the whole AlIeNs thing it is probably the best FPS out. especially the MLG playlist but that is only for good players. you can only get so good at shooting and strafing, teamwork is a big part of it

although halo reach is more of a casual game. im referring to halo 3

Just futuristic graphics :P

I just miss the old school... but games are getting better again, it seems that when technology grew rapidly after 2006 the games took a major decline in gameplay with few exceptions, but now the graphics and gameplay are both coming together again.

It's like in everything else, things have to get total shit untill they can be good again.

AND OFCOURSE because I'm a huge iDSoftware fanboy, I'm going to actually buy rage.

But first I have to buy new 3dcard

I mean, this isn't a political thread or anything like that

we are just talking about video games

I would understand if you were a troll gimmick but sadly you're not

can we just talk about moving images that shoot and kill each other on the tv

Fuck of rubber-Johnny!! Derail a thread about children's games in the BB'ing section of the board?? You ain't from this planet are ya??
Here is what happened when the reactors went into melt down & burned through the containment vessel, in order to head down ward towards the water table below, they still have yet to stop it heading South

Original PS3 was backwards compatible,  but they are rare now and fetch a good price.   The rest are not.

I shall now leave the children to talk about their latest toys  ::)

Good luck with the dip in brain activity that these games cause, research has shown that your state of consciousness dips way below Theta & into Delta brain waves, now that is uncharted territory!! Hypnosis & PHS, are most effective in Theta brain activity, who fucking knows what your are susceptible to on Delta activity.

Beta brain waves
, measured at 13-40 Hz, are the brain state of our normal waking consciousness. Nearly all forms of action, thinking, & problem solving are done with a beta brain wave. Most people spend most of their waking lives in a beta state (although most GetBIG'ers seem exempt from that rule)

Alpha brain waves, measured at 7-13 Hz, are the brain state of relaxation/meditation. The alpha state is associated with creativity & super learning, where the brain learns at a faster & deeper level than it does in beta. Most meditation & energy healing techniques cultivate / utilize an alpha brain wave for relaxation/healing.

Theta brain waves, measured at 4-7 Hz, are the brain state of REM sleep (dreams), hypnosis, lucid dreaming, & the barely conscious state just before sleeping & just after waking. Theta is the border between the conscious & the subconscious world. By learning to use a conscious, waking Theta brain wave we can access and influence the powerful subconscious part of ourselves that is normally inaccessible to our waking minds. While in the Theta state, the mind is capable of deep & profound learning, healing, & growth - it is the brain wave where our minds can connect to the Divine & manifest changes in the material world.

Delta brain waves, measured at less than 4 Hz, are the brain state of deep sleep & unconsciousness.

Gee, I wonder why it is that these games are extremely addictive, & that x5 hrs on them can seem like 30 mins, according to most reports from gamers??  :-*

Carry on gentlemen  ;)

Just a heads up.

Wakeful sleep - Television and Brain Waves

Folds in the BrainDepending on our level of consciousness, our brains exhibit electrical waves that can be detected by a machine called an electroencephalograph or EEG. When we are awake and focused on something, our brain exhibits Beta waves. If we meditate or relax, our brains move into an Alpha wave pattern. When we drift off to sleep our brains exhibit Delta waves. The interesting thing about television and brain function is that for the most part, our brains seem to turn off during television programs. When we view television, our brains mostly exhibit slow Alpha waves and waves bordering on Delta waves. This means that even though we are focused on the story or the characters or the plot, our overall level of arousal is similar to when we are very relaxed or even asleep. Experiments in the late 60's showed that people can enter an alpha wave state as quickly as 60 seconds after beginning to watch television. Therefore, when it comes to television and brain function our brains tend to go into autopilot mode. In fact, watching television has the same effect on the brain as staring at a blank wall.
Alpha Waves, Hypnosis and Advertisements

Another state which induces alpha waves is hypnosis. Hypnosis, while it has come to be associated with people being "put to sleep" and forced to do various things such as act like a chicken, is actually a useful technique to control behavior. At its heart, hypnosis is a state of relaxation and focused attention. The subject is not so much "put to sleep" as he or she is placed in a state of extreme relaxation. During this period the mind is actually quite focused and highly suggestible. The brain waves seen during hypnosis are quite similar to those measured in people watching television. Television advertisers have seized on this effect of television and brain function for their television commercials. When people watch most television programs, they are quite suggestible. Thus a claim made in favor of a specific product, on some level, causes the person watching television to be more apt to believe it.

Now that is TV (the flicker rate of the screen) & the research is fairly old now........

So, let us look at more recent research on Video games (& the flicker rates they generate) & thus brain wave activity that is generated.

your copy and paste is meaningless, because I know all that informatin allready. It's not natural to focuse on some screen activity and it's not good for you. So what?

But if you are so willing to make the world a better place, start by sending me monthly money support and weed, because playing video games and how it effects badly to my brain activity is the least of my conserns, does anybody else here agree with me?

Akio Mori, a professor at Tokyo's Nihon University, conducted a recent study observing the effects of video games on brain activity. He divided 260 people into three groups: those who rarely played video games, those who played between 1 and 3 hours three to four times a week, and those who played 2 to 7 hours each day. He then monitored "the beta waves that indicate liveliness and degree of tension in the prefrontal region of the brain, and alpha waves, which often appear when the brain is resting" (4). The results showed a higher decrease of beta waves the more one played video games. "Beta wave activity in people in the [highest amount of video game playing] was constantly near zero, even when they weren't playing, showing that they hardly used the prefrontal regions of their brains. Many of the people in this group told researchers that they got angry easily, couldn't concentrate, and had trouble associating with friends" (4). This suggests two important points. One, that the decrease of beta wave activity and usage of the prefrontal region of the brain may correlate with the aggressive behavior, and two, that the decrease of beta waves continued after the video game was turned off, implying a lasting effect. Another study found similar results and reported: "Youths who are heavy gamers can end up with 'video-game brain,' in which key parts of the frontal region of their brain become chronically underused, altering moods" (5). This study also asserts that a lack of use of the frontal brain, contributed by video games, can change moods and could account for aggressive and reclusive behavior. An important question arises: if the brain is so impacted by video games as to create behavioral changes, must that mean that the brain perceives the games as real?

Well have a heads up on the serious sam 3 that is coming. It's still old school but it's gonna be be dx10 and dx11 and with 16 player coop  :D, it's going to be sweet! and Quake L!ve is quake 3 today, but in a browser mode it has more players now than it had in the old days... and I'd say the competition is better now aswell with the oldschool champions still on top.

you are addicted to the system just as much as everybody else. Video games is just one part of it.

driving with polluting vehicles, eating good food that has chemicals in it, sweet treats that have even more chemicals in them, alcohol, plastic products, every substance that makes you psychologicly addicted etc etc..

.. you know, so you're not going to make anyone here just stop playing games.
