milk
« on: October 06, 2005, 12:43:34 PM »
hi mates,
im planning to reach my target of consuming 300 cals of milk through food and less supplements.
so as cant eat and effort a lot of chicken ,was wondering if i can consume 2 litres of milk every day.
the milk to be consumed is gonna be skimmed .
with 99.5% fatfree, 31 grams protein and 49carbs and 1200mg calcium per LITRE.

i am planning to add itto my bulking diet (without getting fat, rest all foods clean) with breakfast+with lunch+bfore sleep.(none to be mixed with whey)

so is it healthy ?
will i get complete protiens?
will this make me fat?

and is the timings OK??
help

Not sure I'd want to drink a litre of milk before bed. For starters you're gonna be getting up to pee at some point, which is just annoying. Besides that, that is alot of carbs to be consuming at that time and is probably not an optimal solution.

Have you considered adding powdered milk to milk products instead of using whey? It'll add some protein to the mix and "thickens" up the milk. It's not a bad option. Especially considering the money saved over supplements.

Use semi-skimmed milk. The fat does have some advantages and it just tasts better.

if you cant afford chicken go with your milk also eggs and tuna which are pretty cheep here in the U.S. not sure how much they are in Australia or where you live. Also you could eat peanutbutter and banana sandwiches. I get very big off of those.

Go for the low carb milk, and avoid the sugar content. Even skimmed or powdered milk has a lot of sugar. When you are drinking sugar, it is running through you at such a rate, you cannot hope to burn it as quickly as it is digested.

The low carb milk that I use is chocolate flavor, and has only 2 net carbs (sugar) per 8oz glass, and has 12 grams of protein, as opposed to regular milk which has 12 grams of sugar carbs, and only 8 grams of protein. For some reason the low carb chocolate milk has less sugar than the low carb white variety.

Drinking a lot of milk with a high sugar content is one mistake a lot of new bodybuilders make, because they focus on the protein content exclusively. Protein without sugar is what you really want.

Yes, you can have 1 liter of skim milk a day without having to worry about getting fat.  IMO, milk is great and should be in ever bodybuilders diet.

Guys, any idea where to buy low-carb milk? I love mixing my whey protein with milk, but I don't want the extra sugar.

I think most supermarkets (including Wal-Mart) carry at least one brand of low carb milk.

I buy mine at Walmart. It has the Atkins logo on the carton, but the brand name is Hood. It is usually located in the cooler next to the soy milks. I end up paying the same thing for a half gallon of low carb that a gallon of regular milk costs, however it's got one third more protein, and a lot less sugar, so I feel it's worth the extra cost for me.
