Mike`s a good dude.....met him in 2000 or 2001 at the Masters Nats where he guest posed.....as soon as I told him I was also from Massachusettes,he talked with me bacsktage about shit for 45 minutes or so like we were long lost friends.
He weighed over 300 and he was sloppy as hell......tore his shirt off then posed in trunks,then apologized to the audience because he was so out of shape..........said he was travelling a lot.
The people loved him anyway.

Mike said he knew he would get crap for it, could have made up an excuse like food poisoning and backed out of the show. But instead he was "upfront" saying that he was traveling for guest posings quite a bit and that he was plain just out of shape. |

Sounds right timewise...he looked crappy,but as you said,he was honest about it,and I think the people respected that as they gave him a good response. He even went down and posed in the audience................ ...cool guy. |

I also remember a couple years prior that he had a snippet in FLEX talking about Ronnie Coleman being "for real." Everyone at the time was talking about being 300lbs and 6% body fat and that sort of thing. But they were also saying Ronnie was not a good Olympian champion, not good for the "sport."
Mike saw Ronnie backstage somewhere and said that Ronnie was absolutely worthy of every good word said about him, onstage and off. He then mentioned "I weighed a fat and sloppy 300lbs but Ronnie was about 320. And solid. Not fat. I felt like a little kid next to him."
