Nice to see the old photo's of when the guys didn't have to be "on" all year. The start of the 80's Weider wanted top bodybuiders to stay "on" all year because of his magazines. Mohamed Makkawy was one of the guys that told Weider to stick it.

If he was paying them like pro athletes it would be understandable to expect them to be "professional" and in shape for a large part of the year.

I've seen pics of dickerson in M&F features, where you wouldn't say this guy was THE top pro of the time, when he was winning all the shows around 80-82

All about the bottomline, yet they expect the guys to be in near contest shape and dieting, taking drugs, taking diuretics so they can sell, products and magazines, and do the "pros" get? A tub of weider mass builder, and some pocket money...

Arnold positioned himself and franco beautifully, and sued or threatened to sue weider several different times. Arnold obviously got what he wanted...

I read a ricky wayne article where he states that a photo shoot in NY shortly after the 71 mr O. Draper and oliva both refused to take their clothing off and pose, until they got their fee in cash upfront. Arnold apparently used his contest winnings to front the cash for Joe, it was 2 days after the contest...
