Because the reality is much different than our collective upbringings...Blacks are brought up to respect the law, get a job and work your way up to where you want to be in your career....but the reality is that many get diverted by whats going on in the street, lack of role models, and discrimination even when they choose to do the right thing......

no...actually I'd call him truthful..the point trying to be conveyed here is that blacks (and whites for that matter) are  not BROUGHT UP to commit crimes, and not work....but often the things going on around them in their environment cause them to do other wise..I've never seen any parent say "okay Johnny..go out, commit crimes and don't work...just collect welfare"

when i was a teacher, we had very minimal janitor staff, so i had the kids clean the room every day at the end of the day.

just like they clean their room at home, just like they wash their dishes after they eat, just like they mow the grass of the yard they play in every day.

they were the ones messing up the classroom - and they're LESS likely to mess it up (or more likely to clean as they go) when they know they'll be hitting that mess at 2:50 each day anyway.

Hey, having poor kids cleaning up the shit and piss in the bathrooms of their more well-to-do classmates - what could be a better training for their life to come?

The school counselor could spent her time interviewing 30 dirt-poor inner-city kids for the school's janitorial opening.

Then again, for many kids school is nothing more than a babysitting facility that their parents send them to in hopes it does a better job of raising them than they can provide because they are too lazy or just uninterested in trying.  If these public schools down here are any indication, then it seems that over half the kids in them don't give a shit about learning anything in the first place.  They do nothing but get in the way of the students who do.  So maybe some of them do need to find a job while in school for no other reason than because after school they are just going to be on welfare or disability anyway.
