Every girl I've had that were "just friends" by their own request ultimately started to despise me a little bit because I didn't try to flirt with them or hit on them. I'm very flirtateous but I'm not if the girl doesn't have any openings and I accept that, no big deal.
 So I will treat her then with the manner she prefers.

But in the end the girls started to give me some flirts, a little, and even though I noted them I didn't respond back in a flatterred manner. I'm not one of those men who flirt with girls and don't get anything back from it.

As long as there is no sexual tension, I think it is possible for men and women to be just friends. However, if there is no sexual tension then either one or both parties is not at all attractive or they are gay. Being married for forty-seven years, the sexual tension between my wife and me is pretty much a thing of the past. Maybe this explains why we are still best friends. Back in the day, when we were hot to trot, we weren't such good friends all of the time like now. Sometimes, yes we were friends and other times we were more lovers than friends. But then, this is just our experience.
