IFBB Pro World Masters - Will the winners ever get paid?
« on: December 11, 2011, 09:33:02 AM »
100,000 for the winner
50, 000 for second place
20, 000 most improved
5, 000 best poser...

i'm going to go out on a limb and say that none of these guys are actually going to get any thing close to what was promised to them

how the hell can she pay out this amount with so much less people then the arnold, way less coverage by the magazines and a line up that is worse than a third tier show (flex pro).

No clue. From their previous outing?

According to Rxmuscle, Bill Wilmore took home 30,000 for 3rd place and 20,000 for most improved.

50,000 = what arnold and jim lorimer gave for the arnold europe.

There is about a zero% chance he sees any of that money

pretty good guess...except for the fact  the prize money was put into escrow and  is guaranteed from the IFBB...

This was changed about 5  years ago, as before he change, these provisions were not in place and we had a few instances where the athletes got screwed.

Interesting...if that is the case then there is absolutely no chance this show will be held again next year.

Could you enlighten us as to how she intends to pay out that prize money?

The prize money is sent out from the IFBB office, as it's in escrow....it was given in advance of the show date from the promoter to the IFBB

If they all get paid, more power to them...and props to them for figuring out getting the money before they compete.

No clue how she got it done without losing a s*&tload of money in the process.

There is no way that show will be held again, and if it is, they prize money will probably go down below a 202 show.

that even didn't seem like a huge turnout

not a lot of competitors

In a recent PBW interview Dex said if he won he would take the year off and train for the next Masters show....Unfortunately there probably won't be one.

As for Escrow, Chick is right on, Darrem got screwed a few yrs back out of $10 or $15K and the escrow rule was started...

I would be curious tho as to who put up all this money

240,000 in purse

Not including  sanction fee, venue rental, flights, hotel, expediting crew, lighting and music, etc...

Well over 300K invested

if I'm not mistaken...that was the very first proposal I submitted as athletes rep.  the way Wayne ran things, it was inevitable that athletes would be left holding the bag with no guarantees from the very  federation sanctioning the event.....

That would be strange to invest all you eggs into a show that has no guarantee of being put  on, and is at the end of the year....especially since Dex is still competitive on the circuit...unless there are personal reasons for taking the year off, this wouldn't be a good strategy.

I don't want to sound negative here, but...

Of course the show won't be held next year. Arnold Europe also probably saw it's first and last time.

Most likely one year wonders!

What data would you make this statement on...especially on the ASC Europe?  the
Lorimer/ Arnold company has enough money to put this show on foe the next 50 years.....

I'm not questioning their finances. I'm sure they have 'nuff money to run that show eternally.

But I don't think they are dumb enough to keep doing something that causes losses. It's not like those guys are rap 'bros' who throw money away just because they can, you know...

ASC Europe was quite lame show... at least the line up sucked. And I have a feeling it didn't get much excitement or coverage either...

That India show in Mumbai, Dubai actually has sum' potential. They attracted two top guys, the biggest money makers in this business, two guys with probably the largest fan base on earth (in bb). That's what ASC Euro should have done to be successful.

To run this type of contest, with the prize money, sanction fees, special apperances fees, hotels, flights and more - well over $400,000.   So in essense, someone put up a ton of money who loves the sport of bodybuilding, who wanted to see the legends in one place at least once in their life.  Yes, it is a ton of money to lose.

Unless there are some very rich people out there.

Jarka seems like the eternal optimist, but she obviously wasn't thinking straight and should have been talked out of this by Manion.  I hope she didn't sell her home and start living in a van down by the river to pay for this.

You are intelligent and articulate...light years ahead of the IFBB powers that be. Maybe you'll run the federation some day.
