I'm starting to think this would be a strong ticket.  They're missing military experience, but other than that they bring a solid background to the table. 

At this point, Romney may be the safest (viable) choice.  Not nearly as polarizing as Newt.  Excellent debater.  Has the flip-flop baggage, but other than that is pretty clean. 

Christi would absolutely destroy Biden.

newt is a dirtbag, and I think he'll have trouble winning moderate voters with his abrasive personality, but in terms of fixing things economic, I think he will do a fine job.  I just think RPaul would do a BETTER job.


Newt is certainly a shady dirtbag.  He 'admitted' making a very small amount from Freddie, then it turned out to be WAY more.  He was a lobbyist, he is a dirtbag, but that doesn't bother me.

IMO, it all goes back to the moral insecurity thing here.  They have to believe the person they're voting for is morally clean.

hey man, I grew up with 10 years of catholic school.  I know that whole moral conflict.  I read the bible every day in school and yeah, there are certainly moral conflicts that come with choosing candidates, supporting wars - particularly in light of our new info age.

It's an unhappy feeling, but it can be very liberating BB.  Just say "these things are out of my control - I don't have to consider factors such as faithfulness, integrity, or honesty in my candidate.  Competence and ability to fix economy are how I vote - period".

Many religious people cannot do this.  They have to cling onto lies like WMD because they can't find "bombing someone who hasn't attacked us is okay" in the bible.  And they have to say "Newt is not an adulterer (anymore).

ronpaul is honest to a fault.  he's taken som real hits for being honest on things when they're legal but not popular.

I don't think Newt's problem is dishonesty.  It's his past and leadership style.  He pretty much speaks the truth when it comes to the issues and what needs to be done to fix the economy.   

Romney is definitely an opportunist based on the way he tried to out-liberal Kennedy and now claims to be a conservative, but I wouldn't necessarily call him dishonest. 

If you're looking for honesty from politicians, all I can say is good luck with that. 

Even Ron Paul, who is an honest man, is just a politician.  He acted just like a garden variety politician when it came to accepting stimulus money and earmarks, despite speaking out against both.  It's what politicians do.
