'Lean On Me' Actor Arrested for Buying 200 POUNDS of Weed





The guy who starred as troubled youth Thomas Sams in the 1989 classic "Lean On Me" was arrested in Arizona for allegedly buying 200 pounds of pot from an undercover copyrights this week.

Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins has been charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana.

According to police, the 38-year-old actor lives in North Carolina ... but traveled to AZ to make the drug deal on Tuesday.

Cops in Maricopa County say they set up the sting operation ... and after Hopkins took possession of the dope, they pulled over his SUV and arrested him. Cops say they found $100k in cash in the ride.


Officials later searched Hopkins' Arizona apartment and claim they found an additional 100 pounds of weed.

Police say Hopkins told them he got involved in the drug deal to provide a nice Christmas for his family.

Hopkins is being held on $35,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.

I heard on the radio the FBI has been watching him for a while, and he is the biggest drug dealer on chicago  and playing on the NFL....20 - 40 Kilos per month, and 4,000 lbs of pot per month is some serious weight.

we had a local guy from south florida... the guy was so popular, played in bands, ran a bar and a few businesses, inherited 250k in 95 and made ten times that in the stock market.

I don't understand it, but it happens.  Legalize weed and focus on real criminals.  The fact there are people getting killed and the acts aren't investigated well - but they have money and cops to chase down "plants" that make people hungry and giggly... insane (and I dont even smoke pot!!!)

I daubt it, if he is moving it the fast and in that amount, the mark up may only be 100 dollars per pound, definately not 500 but even at the figure is still 400k per month and nearly 5 mil per year,
