grains arent healthy, they just arent unhealthy. protien is not hard on healthy kidneys, only diseased ones. high protein, low calorie diet is the healthiest thing you can do.
Really, I didn't know this about grains. I have always tried to eat a balanced diet. I am, for the most part, exceptionally healthy and lean, although not ripped or shredded like some bodybuilders are. Personally, I think the biggest problem many of us face is how much we eat verses what we eat. As my metabolism has slowed down some with age, I have adapted to this by eating smaller portions. My diet is still well rounded over the course of several days, which is to say if I have too many carbohydrates in one day or even one meal, I will cut back in the following feedings.
My problem is that I get into a rut with food. For example, almost everyday I have Greek yogurt, orange juice and coffee for breakfast. I know I should vary this, but I just don't get around to it much. Foe dinner tonight, I made ham and butter beans. All the ingredients included, a meaty ham bone, onions, butter beans and some seasoning. With this I ate a salad with blue cheese dressing. There are a ton of leftovers which only I will eat because neither my wife nor my daughter will eat beans and further, my daughter doesn't eat meat.
Incidentally, I am famous for my oatmeal. I make it with half milk and half water. I serve it with nuts and dried fruit mixed in. I fix mine with butter, brown sugar and half and half. This probably blows the heart healthy aspect of it out of the bowl. LOL!
