Paul and the chickenhawk thing...Paul was in the fucking AF for 2 years...never went to Vietnam and spent the rest of the time in the reserves so I'm not sure what the hell he's talking about. He's a piece of shit.

Paul went when he was drafted...worked as a surgeon as well so while he wasn't fighting in the foxholes, he certainly didn't have a picnic putting people back together....(Think Hawkeye from MASH).  Ron Paul had it pretty bad if you ask me

Major ground operations didn't start until 1965. RP wasn't fucking drafted....he was in the Air Force. He then went in the reserves so.......he did what alot of pseudo draft dogers did..he went into the reserves. His best bet is to avoid running on this as if he's a war hero or more to the point...his surrogates better not spew it.

The point, is that Newt was saying that him having a wife and kids kept him out of the service, when Paul had the same scenario and he served.
There was no guarantee that serving in the air force kept him out of danger, just as serving in the Army or Marine Corp didnt guarantee him being in danger. You know this. Lol.

IMO, it should be REQUIRED that a person do 4 years in the military before he/she can run for president.  I know, this would exclude clinton, bush, obama, etc...

But it's the people who have served that have the best mindset to make war decisions.  If Bush 2 had spent 4 years in Kuawait as we attacked Iraq in 1991, would he have been so excited to send 4400 of our troops to die there?  I doubt it.  And that reserves thing should NOT count either.  You do 4 full years if you wanna be Prez or VP.  End of story.

What you have to understand, is that RP threatens HH6's livelyhood. Being a career military man, the worst thing that could happen for HH6's way of life is for RP to get into office and cut the shit out of the military, there is a real possibility of him being forced into retirement or out of the military.

It happened to my grandfather after 31 years of service in the Navy, and he was fucking pissed.

So I understand where his dislike of Paul comes from, and I dont hold it against him. Makes perfect sense once I thought about it, took me a minute to figure out why he doesnt like Paul so much, but I figured it out. Dude has to look out for his own best interests. Especially when he admitted that Paul's economic policy is sound. He rails against Paul because he threatens his chosen career path. I dont blame him, I probably would feel the same way if I was still in.
