What was that Looney Tunes character?
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:40:19 PM »
I know this is not the entertainment board, but I had to ask...
This Looney Tunes character was apparently a little demon that nobody could see, but he fuck shit up like nobody's business. He had on a little beige outfit, with two dull like horns on the side, which apparently was part of the outfit...and he had goggles on. It's like he wore jumpsuit, abd he apparently would fuck shit up on planes...

I know, I know...I was thinking about the Afred Hitchcock movie and I thought of that little looney Tunes demon.

Yes, The Gremlin...now, wasn't that related to apparently either the Germans or Americans had a plane that was subject to Gremlins (if memory serves me correct it was the Germans---who couldn't fly back home due to losing oil, so was the birth of the precursor to STP).

This episode has nothing to do with the one you are thinking of. Its a WW2 era show thats no longer PC and isnt shown on TV any longer I think its call Russin Rapsody and features Hitler getting pissed because his planes cant reach Moscow and he plays the main pilot.  Released in 1944

*I didn't watch the vid, as it wouldn't play, but as soon as Magoo said "Gremlin" I placed the name with the  character.

World War II aircorps pilots or crew members would sometimes hallucinate creatures (gremlins) out on the wings of their planes on long night flights...Yes it is the orgin of the premise for the "Twilight Zone" episode.
The stories circulated and "gremlins" came to mean faults in technical and aircraft systems.

The term also came to mean secret agents sabotaging things.

The "gremlins" in this film are caricatures of people who worked at Warner Brothers...

Each director at the cartoon unit had a unique look/style/feel...Bob Clampett directed "Fallin Hare"

Was also the subject of Roald Dahl's first book, written during the war. A 1st ed. in collectible condition goes for a serious price.

Here's one for you...They were just beginning to learn how to make cartoons that moved in time with music...

Frank Marsales is the music director here.
