What is the point of having big legs if you don't compete
« on: February 01, 2012, 03:59:57 PM »
ok,

say you don't compete. whats the point of having big legs?

what is the point of squatting a ton if all that grows is your ass and your legs?

and for everyday life what is the point of having legs so huge that you can't find a damn pair of jeans that fit nicely

i dont know, i was hitting the barbell squats today and when i was sitting down huffing and puffing and it kind of dawned on me...
if i am geared up my whole body will grow no matter what, whereas when i was a natural i had to hit the squats hard in order for my body to grow
i look around me and everyone else is doing bench and curls, maybe the jokes on me? am i the only idiot following idiot online dogma

big legs complete the physique.... they are the biggest muscle in the body..... why wouldnt you work them....

typical mindset of 90% of guys who work out... work arms until they drop dead and thats it...
pure nonsense

u see these guys huge fat arms droopy pecs... and a belly....
yet they will curl 5 days a week nonsense
for me its all about THE full physique
choice is an illusion

why choose between one or the other?

I'd like both

Both, thats why I squat and train arms.  You need to understand how aesthetic a balanced physique is and how nice legs give you the athletic look, which girls, woman and gays love.

Legs are not easy to train so I understand why a lot of guys just give up on them.

my legs actually overpower my physique actually, and all i do is squats and leg press for my legs

i am thinking of cutting it down to once every 9-10 days rather than 6-7

how about the hams??

maybe you can prioritize them since they are usually lagging in most people.

i let my deadlifts and squatting take care of that

As long as they aren't chicken legs and they are aren't a fucking joke compared to your upperbody, I see no harm in not trying to build giant legs if you aren't going to compete.

Just don't end up like bigbird.

lol honestly i think it just gives gear addicts something to do, something to strive for, and to show everyone else how "awesome" their physique they've built. but that is my own opinion

anyone in their right mind would know that competing for money or career is utterly idiotic, unless you have the genetic/..

My legs are naturally muscular compared to the rest of me, I don't even train them much anymore.
My upper body is weak so I concentrate on that.  The only leg work I have gotten lately comes from
trap deads. My legs are big enough so that I don't look top heavy, but not so big that they
interfere with normal activities. I used to really beat myself up with squats, deads, and leg press,
but now I have more energy to train my upper body and I am able to increase frequency of training
without squats. I sometimes do some hamstring work to help with postural issues, but not
so much lately.
I think that for a gymrat, you don't need much in the leg department, just enough so that you don't look
stupid naked.
