Anyway I agree with everything that's said in the topic except from the fact that I don't really find that mysterious.

I am pound for pound best squatter and deadlifter in my gym but on the internets I am average. Why? Let me explain that to you. Key is: numbers. There are maybe 100 members at my gym. Most of them are average Joes with no ambition to bo anything, they just don't wanna turn into fat blobs. Some of them are ambitious, but lack my natural talent for squatting. Many of them don't know how to train and obviously don't browse internet boards. I am one of the few that do that. That being said, in the internet there are hundreds of guys like me from every gym on the planet. Those who browse bodybuilding boards are most of the time most dedicated and passionate ones, so level of competition is quite high. Of course some of people here lie or do half squats (especially bodybuilders claiming insane numbers). But I estimate those to be about 30% and even if we take them out it doesn't change much.

Anyway one quick observation: I always go down with my bench once I go off. I am so weak on bench it's hillarious, my personal best is 110 for 4 weighting 73kg. Even though I was never really that consistent bencher becouse I hated the lift I can fucking improve my deadlift by not deadlifting and it never goes down. When I go off my deadlift actually sometimes go up becouse I load on creatine, lol. Same with squats. Drugs never really made me progress faster with squats or deads, it mainly improved my shoulder strength.

I think it pretty much explains why so many bodybuilders bench 200kg easily while struggling with 200kg on half rep squats...

Doing a full range ATG squat requires a lot of flexibility. Very few people can actually do it properly
if u are building muscle there is no need to go ATG,if your into max rep for strenght or training for it that's another story.

Since my mid twenties i changed to front squats, 2 plates each side for 15 or more reps, On juice i tried 3 plates but couldn't handle the bar in my shoulder.

A couple of years ago i started doing regular squats again (no belt no wraps no shoes no juice). i can use 3 plates each side for 4-5 reps bottom but i prefer higher reps.

A old friend of mine does 5 plates paralel for 8-10 reps (on a 500-700mg testoviron/laurabolin combo). He is 40.

But 4 plates each side lifts it's a common thing to see around here on guys with 12-15 years of training/juicing on their hands.

my bests squats in a meet were 832@306 in single ply.......622@259 in knee wraps and a belt.  I could probably do 500 or so for one at this point in my life.

The squat is just one of those lifts where everyone has a different opinion of what is deep enough.  A guy can add 100lbs to a squat by doing a half squat. (most guys think a half squat is a full squat) Going just a little higher can add hundreds.  Go to just about any gym and watch how delusional guys are about their squatting strength.  If it's not an olympic squat you are not doing a squat but a partial.
This is so true, I remember back when I was struggling to get 315 for a single going all the way down, I tried squatting down to a bench that would put me right at parallel at the bottom, I put 315 on the bar and got 12 relatively easy reps. But I  didnt even feel remotely close to the stimulation in my legs as going all the way down with lighter weight.

when i was a natural, training under iron addict,

i trained very heavy

one time when i went into the gym for squats,

i was working next to these huge buff black guys squatting 135 for reps

and then i nonchalantly went over to the power rack right next to them, started warming up,

i eventually worked up to my warm up of 315 (mind you, a warm up, not my working set)

and one of the black guys looked at me and said in front of his friends, "that's a lot of weight buddy, isn't that 3 plates", and i said, "i'm still warming up", and i did a quick set of 6. he said it kind of laughingly and not really in a demeaning manner, but more of like a "that's a lot of weight man good job" kind of manner, i think, lol

anyway, when i was doing my set i noticed all of them were looking at me in disbelief, and one of those guys loaded up 225 and struggled with it and said that his back was bothering him, so they walked away



in hindsight, i still do 3-4 plates, but i always emphasized heavy weight since i was a severe ecto and that's all that made me grow when i was a natural

but i would have given up every ounce of strength i had to look like one of those buff and lean black dudes, and there i was at a staggering 165 squatting 385 for 6 that night, still looking like a natural twink


strength means almost nothing in the grand scheme of a bodybuilder. if i didn't have to lift heavy weights to pack on mass i wouldnt



I actually have a very similar story. I remember years ago there was a black dude that would go to my gym who was absolutely huge. Around 6'1 and probably 250lbs lean, he kinda looked like a smaller version of Ronnie, he would wear loose fitting t-shirts probaly like a xxl and his arms would be stretching the life out of the sleeves.
So one night were both doing bench next to each other. I am thinking that this guy is going to go up to like 405-455, we both start warming up 135, 185, 225 was as heavy as I wanted to go that night and I did two sets of 12 and 10. This guy gets to 225 and he is struggling to get 6. I was about 180lbs at that time at 5'9"  thinking this is fucking weird, he's gotta have more than that. He does another set with 225 and barely gets 5. I really wanted to ask him how the hell did he get that big with absolutely no strength to show for it. And Im sure he was wondering how the fuck I can outlift at half his size.

I don't want bigger legs... So by myself I was using 225-315 in 2011 and now.

Then I did a leg workout with Ben Pakulski...and he called me a bitch... ;D...so I did 10x405 and 8x455 is the last 2 sets. No knee wrap...only belt.

Glad you didnt get injured after not doing that type of weights for so long.

my glutes got disgustingly huge from normal squats...now i have a girls ass..it wobbles when i walk....can't wear jeans without people laughing.....i only do front squats now, ass to the floor, high reps,low weight..... :-\

Probably, but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with that.  A pair of homos at the gym is nothing to laugh at, on the contrary, I would encourage others to meet & greet your fellow homos at the gym and to take some time in possibly learning something from them.

Numbers are bit funny cause the '45s are 20kgs in Europe. 20kg is 44lbs.

now with the weakenin influence of americana they all stack the bar with 20 kilograms

haha! that made me lol. nothing wrong with having a big muscular ass, the girls like it, most people who claim their glutes get too big from squats are just lying to themselves.

my glutes are so big from heavy squats that i only do front squats to concentrate on my quads instead of glutes....people stare at my ungodly wobbly ass ...makes me paranoid....i shrunk after taking a few cycles but my butt cheeks stayed the same.....people think i'm a homo because of my ridiculous glutes and match stick calves....sure girls may like it but that doesn't stop people having a chuckle when they see my backside wobbling past....especially in jeans...god help me!!!! i need liposuction or something... :'( :'( :'(

Yes well, I included both numbers and an explanation in attempt to sound truthful.
And this being getbig...

Typical trick was to put 25kgs as first and last plate, with 2 or 3 of 10kgs in the middle. With rubbersided weightlifting plates 10kgs looked just like the 25kgs  ;D
