I did 9x185kg at 18 after 2 years natural training

10x210kg after 3.5 years natural training

But i was always strong on legs and back. Never on chest.

lol,

when i was a natural, training under iron addict,

i trained very heavy

one time when i went into the gym for squats,

i was working next to these huge buff black guys squatting 135 for reps

and then i nonchalantly went over to the power rack right next to them, started warming up,

i eventually worked up to my warm up of 315 (mind you, a warm up, not my working set)

and one of the black guys looked at me and said in front of his friends, "that's a lot of weight buddy, isn't that 3 plates", and i said, "i'm still warming up", and i did a quick set of 6. he said it kind of laughingly and not really in a demeaning manner, but more of like a "that's a lot of weight man good job" kind of manner, i think, lol

anyway, when i was doing my set i noticed all of them were looking at me in disbelief, and one of those guys loaded up 225 and struggled with it and said that his back was bothering him, so they walked away

in hindsight, i still do 3-4 plates, but i always emphasized heavy weight since i was a severe ecto and that's all that made me grow when i was a natural

but i would have given up every ounce of strength i had to look like one of those buff and lean black dudes, and there i was at a staggering 165 squatting 385 for 6 that night, still looking like a natural twink

strength means almost nothing in the grand scheme of a bodybuilder. if i didn't have to lift heavy weights to pack on mass i wouldnt

Because squats will only develop great leg size for those mechanically built for it.
High reps for legs are always a win. I do lots of leg press, lunges, extensions and some squats or hacksquats dead last and not every session.

i have long legs short torso proportions which is shit mechanic but squats built very decent quads

Fucking idiot just collapsed into the bottom position and used a rebound to bounce out of the hole!!

I`d like to see his knees in about a year or two.

are you serious wes? a lot of world class weightlifters squat just like this, the vast majority of them in fact, past present and future

seeing the drawing on the wall and his shoes makes me thing this is a weightlifting gym

but for general strength training more control is a lot more beneficial i think

I see your point as an Olympic lifter has to get up with the weight after he cleans it,but that is gonna` take its toll on his knees IMO.

A slow controlled descent, followed by an explosive positive movement out of the hole is much safer and a better indicator of pure power since momentum is taken out of the movement.

Go to any power meet, and the big squatters will squat just as I described above.

i know and i agree but i am saying 90% of world class lifters in past present and future bounce out of the hole

they deliberately do this because they believe this transfers to the clean where bouncing is essential

bar bend rebound timing etc

just sayin

but i saw a tape of some bulgarian professionals weightlifters and they did very slow descent, pause at bottom explode up squats, cant tell if that's what they always did but it seems more efficient and safe for pure strength

and powerlifters of course there is no benefit for them to bounce

Everyone is different. I haven't squatted more than 285 in years, and my quads outgrow me. But then, I do it for 15-20 reps.

No, not to parallel. Couple inches short of parallel. Not trying to work my glutes and hams all day.

So when curling you also do half of the motion (or rather less than half) becouse the lower part is all forearms? Are you aware of the fact that you risk major injury by not going lower than parallel?

I did 152kgx3 ass to grass, olympic style @ 73kg in the morning.

well, call me an embarrasing fagg0ty ass bitch monkey, but my personal best has been 130kg deep for 10 with a belt last year weighing 75kg and under 10% bf and 140kg for... can't remember, few reps but also as deep.

I'm finally getting my gains back. Two days ago I squatted 120kg for 9 reps deep (2 hour night sleep, 7,5 hour work day) but with no belt, then 130kg for 3 no belt, and then 140kg for 1 with a belt... when I get 120 for 10+ reps I will start my next training session with a 130kg and progress with that the same way. This kind of program seems to work for me  ??? , atleast for now. weight 75kg, maby 8-9bf

girly weights but atleast I'm progressing again, little by little.

My PB at squats was 352lbs for a moderately easy 1, it is a clear memory because i remember feeling i could do 400 (which i probably couldnt have!). My knees arent what they once were due to ligament damage over the years so i dont squat anymore and i certainly dont train heavy (for me). Some people are just naturally strong at certain exercises, we should never judge others through our own limitations as we are not all designed from the same template.

But i was always strong on legs and back. Never on chest.

I am exactly the same, if i posted my bench numbers on here i might as well hang myself off the side of a building but my legs and back have always been so much stronger. Not that im drawing any kind of comparison (because evidently i will NEVER approach anything he has set in terms of numbers or size) but i believe Mark Henry is also the same - outstanding squat and deadlift (900+) but relatively poor bench (i think its rumoured to be 550ish).

My lower back`s a mess.......no more squats for me,plus they didn`t ever do much in the way of building my legs no matter which weight/rep scenario I used.  :(

The squat is just one of those lifts where everyone has a different opinion of what is deep enough.  A guy can add 100lbs to a squat by doing a half squat. (most guys think a half squat is a full squat) Going just a little higher can add hundreds.  Go to just about any gym and watch how delusional guys are about their squatting strength.  If it's not an olympic squat you are not doing a squat but a partial.

Hahaha yes!

They now have a gayer version of the foam cylinder for the bar, it's like some big plastic thing that fits over your shoulders and keeps the bar from 'making your poor back sore!"

Lol I enjoy kicking it out the rack when I do legs  ;D
