i do 5x5 on wednesday, the plan was to do 4 weeks of this, then change to 3x3 for 5 weeks

but on the fourth week the plan failed

try again next week or switch to 3x3 regardless?

Have you tried lowering the weight and doing 'explosive movements' (best done on smith for safety lol) aka blasting the bar really fast on the up, and catching it/lowering it down - repeat for sets of 5 until failure.

This helped me break plateu on military press, especially in the first 20% of ROM when I feel I am lagging.

seems like only behind the neck seated makes sense

the front ones turn into an incline bench

i don't like BTN press because mechanically it puts the shoulder in a bad position and my shoulders are bad enough already to the point of preventing me from lifting at 100%. there is really not much difference, greater medial delt activation with BTN but, not a big deal as you can superset with side laterals before the overhead press in order to fully exhaust the medial delt.

though, i think for a natural, hypertrophy specific trainign should be discarded. i don't think you can make a lot of gains in size as a natural and you should instead focus on going heavy as hell, you know? do a power lifting routine, bands chains, explosive lifting, etc...

yes totally, i do this routine at the moment
http://stronglifts.com/madcow/5x5_Program/Periodized_5x5.htm

it actually works but i'm struggling incredibly with the overhead press

maybe i should just use smaller increments,

i increase weight 2.5 kg on all lifts weekly but considering i use more than double for squats trhan for overhead i should maybe use 1kg increases in overhead? lol

No secrets. More muscle/more drugs. It's a very genetic lift, much harder to progress than bench.

In all honesty from my own experience... Drugs. The more I take the better millitary press I have. On the contrary to squats or deads where I don't see rapid improvement from drugs, they go up whatever I do.

Its true too much volume may interfere, but they even talk about tailoring it to your needs, and it seems you need to.
