Bigoted bully Rush Limbaugh has been rewarded for his hostile, hate-filled speech for far too long. The National Organization for Women calls on Clear Channel Communications to pull the plug on Limbaugh's gilded microphone immediately. In addition, we call on Limbaugh's conservative comrades in the media to fully denounce, with no excuses, his derogatory comments.

Limbaugh's targeting of Sandra Fluke was way out of line, even for him. Limbaugh is free to disagree all he wants with Fluke -- a Georgetown Law student who testified before a congressional committee in support of health care coverage for birth control -- but calling her a 'slut' and a 'prostitute' on air is unacceptable. After sparking outrage, Limbaugh took to the airwaves again yesterday to suggest that if Fluke wants contraception to be fully covered, she should post videos of herself having sex online so Limbaugh and others can watch.

Clearly, Limbaugh is not just having fun here. He is trying to shame a young woman for coming forward, speaking her mind and standing up for women's rights. This is how bullies try to chase all women from the public square.

Isn't the GOP embarrassed by this man by now? Remember, Limbaugh is not some fringe right-winger -- he has been identified time and time again as a lead strategist in the Republican party, not to mention a king-maker and an enforcer. The fact that this man has so much power in one of the two dominant political parties in the United States is shameful.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stepping into an emerging culture clash over women, President Barack Obama made a supportive phone call Friday to a law student who testified before Congress about the need for birth control coverage, only to be called a "slut" by Rush Limbaugh.

For Obama, it was an emphatic plunge into the latest flare-up on social issues. Democratic officeholders and liberal advocacy have accused Republicans of waging a "war on women" because of GOP stances on contraception and abortion rights, and Limbaugh's tirade on his radio talk show was seen as an escalation.

In addition to her call from the president, the third-year Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, was backed by members of Congress, women's groups, and the administration and faculty at her Roman Catholic university.

Demands for Limbaugh's sponsors to pull their ads from his show rocketed through cyberspace, and at least four companies, Quicken Loans, LegalZoom online legal document service, and bedding retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, bowed to the pressure.

Obama considers Limbaugh's remarks "reprehensible," according to White House spokesman Jay Carney. He said the president called Fluke to "express his disappointment that she has been the subject of inappropriate personal attacks" and to thank her for speaking out on an issue of public policy.

"The fact that our political discourse has become debased in many ways is bad enough," Carney said. "It is worse when it's directed at a private citizen who was simply expressing her views."

Obama reached Fluke by phone as she was waiting to go on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports."

"He's really a very a kind man," Fluke later told The Associated Press.

A Statement from Rush March 03, 2012 For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

There are millions of women in her situation--  In her 30's from an upper middle class background attending a tier 1 law school and testifying before Congress. It is her RIGHT to have the Catholic law school that she attends pay for her birth control. And if the school won't pay, the American tax payer should pay. That's the only fair way for her to receive her fair share. Why should a disadvantaged third year law student have to pay as much as $3,000 out of her own pocket to not get pregnant because she wants to have sex? And the men she sleeps with shouldn't have to wear condoms! That destroys the intimacy of sexual intercourse and makes things awkward if the man that she is having sex with can't maintain an erection!

I mean, in places like Compton California, the South Bronx and Detroit-- imagine all of the poor women on welfare who already have several children and couldn't find Georgetown on a map if it was highlighted with giant neon lights--- She is doing this for them.
