Yes. I've been holding my carbs around 100 grams and aiming to balance protein and fat in my diet (as percentages). Kick ass results so far.

I think 100g/day is plenty for most people. The average human needs something like 50g just for normal cognitive functioning. I believe that 100g is probably sufficient for what we need, while being low enough to facilitate fat-loss.

Have you ever considered any type of "carb-cycling?"

Tried it years ago... Not sure what I would gain from it.

Breakfast today was 1lb of smoked salmon with capers and black pepper.

How many grams of fat? And what sources have you been using? Anything beyond the usual olive oil, beef, eggs, nuts, avocados, etc. Anything different?

Yea I heard coconut oil is supposed to be pretty good stuff. A friend of mine told me the other day that apparently Almond butter is supposed to help one's quality of sleep tremendously. I think I may pick both of them up soon, definitely an easy and healthy way to add calories without stuffing yourself.

Tastes like junk food but it's perfectly balanced fat and protein.

I'll give it a go soon man. I think this week I'm going to drop my carbs in half and double my fat intake. We'll see how it goes.

Fats provide more favorable effects than carbs from a body composition standpoint for most people.

It was popular in the 60's for many serious bodybuilders to consume protein powders mixed in heavy cream and whole raw eggs. They would also often eat untrimmed steak and tuna in oil, and be able to lean out eating these food sources and avoiding carbohydrates.
Cardio was not a prominent part of contest-prep back then.

Although plenty of guys knew, firsthand, the benefits of Ciba-grade Dianabol, training - and especially diet - were still pivotal.
Many top guys on the West coast followed the dietary instruction of Vince Gironda and Rheo Blair; the bases of their nutrition protocols were quite similar, and maybe one of the few topics the two men actually agreed on.

Yep it was all high fat low carbs back then. It seems that we often desire a return to that era but disregard their fundamental dietary practices.

Part of the reason is that there are too many self-professed "gurus" today.
"A calorie is a calorie," and other such bullshit rhetoric has invaded the exercise world, along with other polluting gimmicks and fads.

Agreed. I'm not a food radical. Just reducing carbs and upping healthy fats. Key word there is healthy.

Sure!
I'm considering incorporating more MCT's for improved energy during my next low carb cycle. I'm not a big proponent of "true" zero-carb protocols, although I may intersperse a few sporadically placed zero-carb days to see what happens.

I think all macro nutrients are necessary in SOME amount. It's just a matter of tweaking those amounts to see what fits right. In other words, I'm not a big fan of the pure keto diet lol.
