depends on when you last ate, and how much protein was in it.

who cares what time it is....post train, you're catabolic.  Eat only if you want to see muscular size increase.

horrible answere, you eat after a workout no matter what, period. If you don't you short change yourself, plain and simple, no discussion here.

digestion takes quite a while guys. if he had a large meal a couple hours before hand theres no reason why he needs to eat. maybe a glass of juice or something tho.

Not true, a meal before won't cut it, it won't make an astronomical difference but it is always better to eat after a workout

if total daily daily calories and protein are equal between two diets, theres not much you can do in terms of food choice and meal frequency to make any difference to the results youll get.  not to mention that if you have a meal a couple hours before a workout the nutrients will be arriving into cells for useage around the time you start training, and well after.

really? I wasn't hungry and was getting sleepy. so my thinking if you sleep the body can repair and build itself and recover, if you eat the body would be busy handling food instead.

I only did 100 reps of one arm dumbbell rows for each arm with 80lbs and 100 reps bicep curls with 40lbs dumbbells. I had eaten beans, rice, beets, peas and more just an hour before.  my arms might soon break 19" (which should be pretty soon) from not eating/going to bed post workout, I could put up evidence at the time so there is no doubt.

these are the best arm workouts. try it next time, the arms will feel like they explode and you will have trouble eating after anyway from not reaching your face with the spoon unless you scrape the food off the plate while bending down to it.  you guys are only stuck in this bodybuilding supplement protein pattern, try break out of it, it's awesome for results

so you did 100 reps non stop with light weight and thats your arm workout? You must be epic by now! Where did you pick up this world of knowledge about armtraining? Dorian Yates school of torn biceps?

no in sets, it was concentration curls. The ONLY bicep training you'll need, it trains it fully, isolated and thoroughly to failure. especially effective after rows. I'm telling you to try it. the elbow only have ONE possible motion. I tried a bunch of exercises for biceps before, it's just fix idea, it's the same muscle!

could it be because I countered your argument about eating after workout and it shattered your trusted world view of forcibly bombarding your gut with protein supplements around the clock, day or night?

Not at all......it`s common knowledge that to gain muscle or retain muscle, you must eat after training.

Just simply sleeping with no protein is a waste..............at least a whey shake in water and a couple of cups of low fat cottage cheese at that late hour would be ideal.

As far as digestion goes, you would have nutrients trickling into your system  while you slept if you ate post-workout.

30-50 gms protein and some fruit for good carbs and call it a night.  don't listen to these bitches about eating a heavy meal.

Layne Norton said that the body utilizes protein better if you eat it in bigger quantities and rarely, instead of smaller and often.

I had plenty of protein earlier in the day. I used to practice eating protein every few hour before, but it just made me feel warm, uncomfortable and working out hours each day. So I don't see how that's gonna help.

yes I had more energy for long workouts but I don't think it made me stronger, pluss it's unnecessary stress to keep worrying about having to eating all the time.  Now I just concentrate on eating really big meals when I have the time. Usually 3 or 4 times and that's it.
