John is not dead. It will turn out Melisandra making Stannis kill his daughter was more for keeping john alive. She knew Stannis was done.  Notice the black blood flowing upwards when john laid there.  I loved seeing Cersi take the longest walk of shame ever.  Hahahaha.  Bitch VM a be mad.

I would be very surprised if he is dead for good.  The show's publicity machine is going 100% now trying to convince everyone he's gone for good, probably just to build up a surprise reveal next year.

I think he'll turn into whatever that "Coldhands" guy is in the books.

I was hoping he would turn out to be a Targarian and ride the third deagon.

It's all but certain in the books that he's the son of Ned's sister and Dany's brother (her other brother, not the one on the show).

Stupid show for stupid people.

Which is a truly stupid response.

Point of fact:  I know I am smart, and I like the show very much.

Ergo, your crude argument is flawed :)

The show is good.  Anyone who follows it with some consistency [probably] won't dispute that.  It is a TV show with great actors and a near-commercial movie budget backing it, to say nothing of the good story.

Other shows have their perks; e.g., Adonis' favorite "Hell On Wheels."  I love that show, too.  And "True Detective" is, IMNSHO, without rival for what it is

But when I initiated this thread, GoT ran without competition from HoW, TD or the Walter White show, which was beyond awesome in its own right.

And dragons, even though I know you're being sarcastic ;)  The second those gold-masked assholes (Sons of the Harpy, I think they called themselves?) started popping up, I would've let Dragon's siblings loose -- if, of course, I were Khaleesi ... (in which case, I'd probably never make it out of my bedroom; if I awoke looking like her or Emilia Clarke, I'd probably spend the next week fingering myself.  And have you seen her BODY DOUBLE?!  Holy fucking smokes ... ).

Anyone watch The Wire? Recommended?

I don't know, just figured the Game of Thrones thread would be a perfect place to ask about Baltimore police dramas and such.

watch it, lots of little nig in the beginning of the show makes it appear really low budget but that's just how they really live and talk out there its not bad acting

I watched the first two episodes of The Wire a year ago or so and was bored to tears, couldn't get into it.

Lots of people seem to love it though.

Ok, thanks, fellas. Brought it up because Dennis Lehane, a great writer, was involved. Not worth buying a whole season, though, based on your reviews.

Now back to magic and dragons.

"The Wire" is the best show on TV, IMO. It starts out slow and it takes about 4 episodes to pick up, like a novel that builds momentum as it goes along. It's very involved with multiple
characters and it's best to watch it with the subtitles on to pick everything up. Season 4, which focused on inner city middle school, was amazing. I think Lehane wrote episodes in season
four and maybe season three. It's very realistic and authentic and not your typical Hollywood TV show. It's also too intelligent and real for most viewers and the ratings were always very
low when it was on HBO. I haven't seen anything better since it ended it's run almost 10 years ago.

Game of Thrones... i avoided it for years cause of the whole mythical thing.   Never been a fan of dragons, etc.

But this show is pretty brilliant, violent, creative
