Too dumb even to grasp "The Wire". :D

I'll repeat it slowly so your underdeveloped frontal lobe can maybe understand: I thought the show sucked.

Fuck off now and go dig up another four-week old post from creepily browsing my post history that you can feebly try to "own" me with, queer.

A few years back a fellow GetBigger recommended that I read THE GAME OF THRONES.

The first chapter got me hooked and I've been a fan ever since and I eventually dove into the TV series which I found to be even more fascinating than the book.

What surprised me about the whole damn series is that the heros seldom win and some real bad shit happens to one in particular which could never be discussed in mixed and polite circles such as this GetBig Board in particular.

The only thing I dislike about this series is that there are too damn many characters with confusing  names and I have a problem recalling who is whom and the results of the ensuing family feuds.

Not too many TV watchers dislike this series and it has won numerous awards over the years it has been on TV.

I have only met one of the principal actors in this production and I have to admit that the did a good job before the script killed him off.

I doubt that any avid GetBiggers have watched DOWNTON ABBEY, but it is another TV series that has gained my attention due to its historical background and how the aristocrats used to live in Great Britain and the changes that occurred after WW1.

Maggie Smith's portrayal as the DUCHESS is some of the best acting I'v ever watched.

Great job, Maggie Smith!

I gotta end this by saying that it is an amazing thing to watch a good friend become a different person entirely. I see this on numerous occasions at family gatherings and it always fascinates me
especially when the 'actor' is only 6.

A little more than good? "[In its five seasons,] the series has received 86 Emmy Award nominations, including five consecutive Outstanding Drama Series nominations, with 26 wins …. In 2015, it set a record for winning the most number of Emmy Awards for a series in a single year, with 12 wins out of 24 nominations." (no nerdo)

I think it's started to rely a bit too much on shock / "who will die next??".  The quality of the writing/story-telling hasn't been consistently good for a while now.

I suspect the cast/crew/writers/etc. are weary of it after six years but it's so wildly popular they have to keep going.

Still a great show though.

Hey, Hulkotron!

I can't disagree. It's a cash- and award-cow, and a guilty pleasure I look forward to before starting the weekly grind.

The show has turned into a "woman Power" show.  The writer is pretty much out of it now.  The show runners are creating their own storylines and making it about Female Power. Fuck them.  I'm so sick of this shit.
As for titties, that red bushed witch has a face that looks like it's 40 but tits like an 18 year old.  Just fantastic.

Showed up for a Martin signing in, what, 04/5? Store empty; looking good. Had a beer; came back in 45, and place was jammed. Like a 1000 people jammed. Asked politely, and was obliged. Crazy stuff.

That's great! You must have an amazing book collection. The Dr.Chimps Catalog.
It's pretty good. Took a leaper on the Martin stuff. Makes me look prescient. Dumb luck would be closer. Looks great on the shelf, tho.

I like it and watch it as soon as new eps come out, I just don't feel it's as great as everyone makes out.Awards in tv and movies are a huge circle jerk so I wouldn't put much stock in that.

Your points are well taken. It's not a perfect show. However, because some episodes are so good, they set a very high bar for other episodes to clear. We'll have to judge it as a whole, when the run is complete.

I agree. Its still.one of the best if not the best TV show going right now. I love the way the story unfolds.its only individuals with commercial length patience that can't understand it so fuck them.

It's like watching a movie each week.  I believe its the highest cost per episode of any show to produce at something like $5-10 million per episode.  it was enough that they almost cancelled it after season 1 then the DVD sales exploded when word of mouth went around convincing HBO to renew it.

It's okay. I keep up to date with it but there's something missing from it that I can't quite put my finger on. I guess it's missing that ethereal quality that the greatest films and TV programmes seem to have in heaps. If anybody has watched Cowboy Bebop they'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
