Wait, it says right here (Flips tru Weider Training Manual, Vol VII, The Weider System), ah, here it is...

"While in Ketosis ( /kɨˈtoʊsɨs/), one may experience a smell similar to something burning...it might have a peculiar smell akin to pork or bacon...that is you 'burning' fat."

Well according to the video, you can't burn any fat without a certain amount of carbs present, then the guy says ketosis is poor way to lose weight and if you do lose weight it will more then likely be muscle and water, bunch of baboons.

hm, some 50-100gramms of carbs daily still works for me though.

i dont know why low carbs works best for me for fat loss(and staying lean), but i know it does work best.

esp on steroids and hard training regiment, i dont see how muscle can be wasted, while one eats plenty protein and gets enough rest.

ok, when deep into single digits, some muscle can be lost, but by then, you look good enough anyway 8)

Spot on.

I've never needed to go ultra-low on carbs to drop weight. Usually, ingesting about half a gram per pound of bodyweight works well for me, particularly when the bulk of the carbs are simple ones, taken during or after training.

I've read about him, blending cans of tuna and apple juice, back in his early days when he was strapped for cash.

Is it just me or do the early to mid 90's just seem like a more innocent, happier time?

Well, the internet wasn't around back then so a big YES to your question.

That's what he blamed his heart attacks on although the steroids certainly played a part.  As far as Franco saying calories and water, I believe he mentioned it in an Ironman issue but I can be wrong.

Still, the Weider system was mostly marketing and without the proper "supplements" it would cause you to severely overtrain

Who said that? It's certainly not in the video.

It's about 20 years old (late '91, early '92). Notice the contest footage from the '91 Mr. O (Yates) and the '92 IronMan (Matarazzo).

Nope. That's former Mr. Universe and Arnold's idol, Reg Park.

Didn't his father have a heart attack? Matarazzo mentioned that, prior to his being confined to a wheelchair, his dad had bigger calves than he did.
