dude, its not about taxing the rich hoping that those taxes will cover our deficits, its about taxing the rich fairly and getting them to pay their fair share..no more no less..the thing I find so funny is that the rich have done such a great job of brainwashing the American public into thinking that taxing the rich fairly is wrong.....
they turn the argument into a "redistribution of wealth" argument...saying that their hard-earned tax dollars are going toward welfare...in reality, if they don't pay it, the middle class will......it IS a massive redistribution of wealth.....they have shunked their tax burden onto the middle and working class....we are paying our taxes AND theirs as well.....we pay in terms of the higher interest rates that come from borrowing the extra money that they don't pay
good job by them pulling the wool over the eyes of the conservatives and Republicans
Tell me, andre, what is a "fair" tax rate for the rich?
Right now, the top personal income tax rate is 35%, while the top tax rate on investment, which is double-taxed on the corporate and then the personal level (capital gains), is almost 45%. And that's not including state and local income, sales, and property taxes.
To me, it looks like the top 25% pays too much compared to the bottom 50%
