Chael did get up again but pressure from Anderson seen him wilt to the canvas, Anderson ground and pounded to finish the fight. Personally, I think it was an early stoppage, but Chael seemed OK with it - Props to Chael, was definately humble and respectful at the post fight press conference.
Anyone who just watched this fight tonight could see something didn't smell right. Chael worked Silva in the first round and all Rogan talked about was Silva. Sonnen was foreshadowing this fake fight imop. The gig is now up with the phony fights of pride and this looked like a dive to me.
If you look at the replay: Silva didn't hit Sonnen good once while Sonnen was on the floor. All his GnP landed on his gloves. I too think referee stopped it too early, especially after the beating Sonnen gave Silva in UFC 117 where Sonnen beat up Silva worse and there was no stoppage at all.
1) think it was 2nd match Asian guy went down easy holding his rib when his rib wasn't even touched,, and
2) the Ortiz fight, I thought he won,, even think griffin did he pouted all the way back to the lockeroom before someone went and got him and whispered in his ear " Dana fixed this one"
1. I think in the clinch he held his opponents hand against his ribcage to set up for a throw but when they fell down after a failed attempt he landed with still his hand and the opponents hand on the ribcage so you get a "ground, fist, fist, rib" impact with the weight of 2 grown men landing on top of that, might be a bit too much for a rib. I don't think that was a fake one at all.
2. Looking at the stats (punches and kicks landed etc) after the match you can see that Griffin's numbers were not even close to Ortiz, despite the 2 knockdowns.
Maybe that's why he got the win from the judges?
