Well, there are many factors going on here... both parents work, broken families but most of all....

We are a country that has compulsory education to 12th grade. All students are expected to learn the same exact things at the same exact rate at the same exact time as everyone else. This leads to teachers and administrators busting their tales to bring up the lowest performing students to an acceptable level which rarely happens, given the above conditions while the best and brightest are left to fend for themselves not being challenged to their potential. Gone are the day of trade schools nor do we educate students like in Japan and Germany where placement tests are given in order to "place" students in their correct tracks. The system needs to change which is handed down by our government.

I was a big talent growing up. I drew portraits at 8..etc... haven't done anything since I was 18. Here's my take on it:

If the first one is done by a 2 yo it might be the next Picasso. I am not buying it.
