Proteins are chains of aminoacids. What's the catch in taking aminoacids when you're eating ok/using protein powders?

Faster recovery & better fat burning when you take them before or right after your workouts.
And before you say it, yes, the right gear will do this more effectively  ;)

I've never tried them. Creatine was ok but it was mostly water, moonface included.

Prostrate health.  Plus it's a nice antioxidant, IMO.

Lifetime $$$ spent on supps?  Wow. . . has to be in the thousands.   In later years I took almost everything out there, but by then I received everything free so no damage done.

Now? Protein powder & Glutamine.
I swear by saw palmeto. The benefits are endless for males I believe. It will also keep the hair in your head as well.

You're like me then, I don't really know the mechanism involved (and I can eat extra protein to no avail...) but IF I don't take a good amount of EXTRA Glutamine every day my muscles ache like hell.  My workouts are 4 to 5 days a week, but I hit it hard and heavy for 1 hour and leave.

They might have some value if you do intense or long cardio while dieting, they spare muscle. But ordinary protein powder or some high protein dairy may be almost as effective.
And of course there's the placebo affect, placebo's always there.

At GB i often read that this or that worked / didn't work. How do you know?! Have you just felt this or that way? You do not feel the effect of vitamin C either, does it mean it is useless?

Good point, this indicates that folks expect miracles / fast results from supps. This might be a naive view, but they paid many bucks for them, so it's understandable.
Regarding 'performance enhancing' supps, I've found out that crea gives me more power & endurance within a week and I get most of my protein from powders (confession right there) and regarding health supps, fish oil gives me better focus and a clear mind.

i don't regret buying protein powder (though nothing beats real food obviously), and dabbling in creatine back in the day seemed to pay some short term dividends, but the only other supp i tried (glutamine) was probably a complete waste.

Anyone remember smilax?

My bud and I bought a bottle with the eye-dropper and let it sit in a cupboard for weeks because we were both frightened to try it for fear we'd, hell, I don't know, 'roid out?

Fuckin' ridiculous.

I bought smilax too...I went from being a guy who worried about the "side effects" of shit like that to a guy who ate the second generation andro and nor andro like Pez to a guy who would wire money to Turkey in exchange for a box of unlabeled dianabol that I gladly took because another guy assured me the dealer was legit.

I remember those "old school pro hormones"  They were like steroids.  I remember getting tender nips (no homo) and fucking lifting more then I ever could.  They stopped early pro-hormones because they worked.
