Share on emailShare on facebook More Sharing ServicesMore Print A hammer-wielding madman — dressed in a suit and tie — bashed in the skull of a Spanish tourist who was sitting quietly with his wife on a bench in City Hall Park yesterday, police sources said.
Witnesses said the crazed man looked normal — until he walked up to Hugo Alejandro, 31, of Barcelona and cracked him repeatedly in the temple with the hammer’s claw end — just one inch above his left eye.
Before striking him, the wacko screamed out profanities, calling his victim a “Nazi motherf- - ker’’ and shouted out his views on President Obama and former President Bill Clinton.
Alejandro was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with a fractured skull shortly after 3 p.m. He was listed in stable condition last night.
His alleged attacker was identified as John Charles Yoos, 43, from Flatlands, Brooklyn, according to sources.
A group of good Samaritans held Yoos until others pointed out the violent suspect to an off-duty NYPD officer who was working a security job at a bank across the street.
The cop held him until reinforcements arrived at the scene. Cops said they also found a knife in his jacket pocket.
He was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and weapons possession.
