ex2 is mostly getting good reviews. Basically if you want to go to the movies for fun and see lots of action, blood and gore then the film delivers.
Not for the kings speech type people where nothing happens and you don't go to enjoy yourself.

I agree.

Since when did going to the movies become so boring?

I remember a time when you would go to the movies to laugh, get startled, jump from scene to scene,  while sitting on the edge of your seat, to then go home to further talk about how amazing of a movie it was due to it's cinematographics.

Now, all critics expect it to be a deeply layered presentation that provides you with a mental hard-on to last for a few days due to some overly cerebral set of characters that would make for better mimes than actors.

If you want to feel like a kid hoping on a great rollercoaster for the first time, then go see expendables 2.

I go to see such movies for social reasons only, for example if my work-mates have arranged something and that cute little blond from the accounts department is also coming, I spend most of the time in the cinema trying to think up some good lines for later at the pub ;D

This x10!
I go to movies mostly to see be entertained. Action, adventure, explosions, its entertainment. I do enjoy the convoluted story from time to time, but Im not going to shit on a film because it's some basic linear storyline where you don't get to know the characters intimately

Who the fuck would go to this movie and expect academy award wining performances, plus a great screenplay?

Movie critics that expect that from everything.
Sometimes I think many of them would be happy if everything went back to black and white with no visual effects, that way they could focus on the actors they so desperately want to be assfucked by.

I think this sort of movie should be banned from the critics, they go in to tear it apart from the start, pointless.
Most of the academy award winning performances are overrated boring movies anyway like the remake of true grit which was nominated for many. That was one of the most boring overhyped pieces of crap I've ever seen, literally nothing happens the whole duration.

The cast and the producers of X2 could care less of these so called "critics".

It will rake in the money and Expendables 3 will be even more outrageous, with Clint Westwood, Nicholas Coppola and Harrison Solo!

Seriously, I absolutely know that I will enjoy this movie.  It has all of my childhood action heros in it.  Hell, I love all of Van Damme's direct to dvd shit.  It will be an instant day 1 dvd buy for me as well.  I don't expect acting, I expect action!

this is such bullshit, movies today are just as populistic as ever.

Aside from art films, and a few sean penn movies, no one gives a dam about winning oscars.

I agreee.  I go to movies to be entertained.  To forget about the real world and be caught up in the reel world.

There was a film made a long time ago about a film director that was upset about making comedies that made people laugh and forget their cares and made money.  He went out into the real world to meet the little people he wants to reach with his artsy fartsy BS to show them "the way".  The film is called "Sullivan's Travels".  It's good.

Jean Claude Van Damme?  Where the fuck is Salvatore?  It's not right that he's not here.
