UFC use to have so much buzz around it. I would get at least 5 texts a couple of nights before the fight people asking me where I'm going to watch it what bar etc. etc. Doesn't seem like people really care about it anymore. I still do many of the casual fans have lost interest. This doesn't help any.

I think it would take any man more than a good 2-3 months to prepare for a fight with Chael.  Just his takedowns alone are difficult for anyone to stop.  Not to mention that the guy has solid ground and striking game, that's a headache for anyone.

That said, Jon Jones is not a brawler.  He fights based on a set game plan and is working with Jackson who is known to review all prior fights that a challenger might have available on tape.  Jackson isn't a cowboy and it seems that Jones has followed suit.

Jackson was right in that throwing Sonnen in the mix 8 days prior to showtime could have cost Jones his belt.

Chael, on the other hand, can give two shits who they place in front of him, he is ready to fight at ALL times.  Win, lose or draw - Chael will fucking fight anyone in the UFC.

I respect Chael's character and approach in the Octagon.  He reminds me of the way Royce Gracie used to be in the original UFC's.  A true fighter isn't scared or worried about the lack of training involved for a particular fighter.

A true fighter is always ready to fight.

OK a simple solution would have been to accept the fight as non- title fight. I am sure Dana would rather have the fight go on as non-title fight rather then flop the entire card altogether.

The card wasnt strong enough to stand on its own minus the main event.

Despite all the  marketing hype Jones seems to draw mostly negativity from regular fans. This incident will probably have more people rooting for Machida to win than before.

Yes, Jon Jones just became the most hated UFC competitor even beating Bisban

Dude's got gyno.

I know this is a thread where I should be saying something macho like "Sonnen by figure-four leglock", but I just wanted to pop in and say........I would tongue Dana Linn's pee slit.

Should be interesting to see the crowd reaction when he faces machida on the 22nd.

Bisbing and Koscheck just play the bad guy role for the cameras.

Oh yeah...the fight is in toronto right?
The canada card got upgraded.

Chael should have plenty of new  verbal ammo for his 205 move.

A loss is a loss my friend.

Besides, being beat by Chael Sonnen means a lot since he is a weight class below Jon Jones.  That would be devastating.

Yes, and losing to Chael would mean being the butt of Chaels jokes and comments for years to come.

That goes without saying.

Chael would get a lot of mileage from that win.  He would even go as far as to use it as a means by which he can imply that if given another chance, he would blow Anderson Silva out of the water by way of fight/skill comparison to Jon Jones.

Right now, people see Jon Jones and Anderson Silva as the two best fighters in the sport.  I feel strongly that Silva is the best fighter in the UFC at the moment, but many others feel that Jones is the best due to his destruction of the weight class.

Ducking Chael would mean pretty much the same thing. Dana will probably request that greg jackson's name be included whenever Chael fires up the media machine.

Very little chance he would have lost, no more risk then Henderson, so his decision is not logical

I beg to differ captain.

I actually can see Chael getting a close decision over Jon Jones, especially in light of all the shit that has been going on (DUI, Backing out, problems with Fertita and White).

That, and Greg Jackson felt STRONGLY that fighting against Chael would have brought him a loss.  Chael has been aiming at the light-heavyweight division for quite some time and has thrown many jabs at his desire to beat the living shit out of Jones.  For as much as Dana wants to shit on Greg Jackson, the guy does know MMA and has solid reason for pushing Jones to back out.

P.S. Remember what Dana said, it was not Jones' decision, he backed out strictly after Jackson told him to do so.

Perhaps he was visited by GOD who told him to not take the fight.

Not neccessarily the same thing. Even though both are essentially wrestlers Dan would have stood with jones longer whereas Chael would be constantly looking to take the fight to the ground and grind out a decision. Different gameplan would be needed which is probably why Jackson had Jones pull the plug on the match.

Any way you slice it, Jones appears the yellow-bellied paper champion.

Chael has always had my respect, but he now has a lot more. Sure, if he won it would do his career endless good, but that's not the point. He has the stones to throw down with whomever and whenever.

Just like the trend of fights going to decisions ... Jones is petrified to lose. The absolute avoidance of a possible loss has made MMA, in general, and the UFC, specifically, boring and lame.

Jones is a twerp and I can't wait to see him get his ass handed to him.

You guys are not thinking this through

1. Chael is in a lower category. Yes weight counts for something.

2. Chael has not been training for a fight, more then likely has been sitting on his ass. Not many people train ferociously after a fight especially a fight you lost.

3.Chael has not trained to fight him either, so both are at disadvantage in the same way

4. Chael doesn't have the punching power Henderson does

5. Chael is coming off a lost

6. Henderson is an Olympic wrestler, I dare any of you to say he is not as good as Chael in wrestling, he is bigger and has a loner reach

His risk went down significantly and he let the whole UFC down on his fucken selfish decision.

Valid points however he does pose enough of a risk to prompt Jackson to call it off.

Jones was also hesitant about facing machida again because the last fight with Lyoto didnt draw as many payperview buys and businessman Jones now wants big pay days.

Jones is such a wanker calling himself a businessman, somehow I don't think Donald trump is shaking in his boots, it is obvious he is just another shrewd greedy fuck who thinks he is somehow special, businessman my arse, he will end up like every other fighter, fighting too long, drug addicted or an alcoholic who relies on his kids who hate him because he is a washed up good for nothing bum.
