Ferrari Stomping on The Lil Guy...Again
« on: September 21, 2012, 02:47:14 PM »
First it was, "you can't test our cars unless we approve of it."
Then it was, bringing two cars to comparison tests, when other manufacturers bring one.
Then it was, "you can't say anything bad when you test the car, or you will never get to test one again."
Then it was, "you can't test your friend's car without our permission."

and now, it's "if you have a bad experience at the dealership, you better not say anything, or we'll sue you."

Not so much a corporate edict but a dealer.

Ferrari has to learn they aren't the only game in town anymore, they remind me of a hot older chick whose best days are behind them ( actually the cars are better than ever sans spontaneous combustion  :-X ) and hate all the young pretty girls and want all the attention for themselves

But to know Ferrari is to know their long history of games a politics , Enzo used to play one driver against the other , old news.

Exactly, but the dealer is doing this and knows that corporate would back them. They think that because Ferrari has that "mystique" about them that they can play that game. And Lambo doesn't help much, with it's image of "douchebag and gold chains"...

And Mclaren---if that successor to the F1 pans out (The P1), Ferrari will still act the same way.

Of course, Ferrari can't say shit to Chris Harris now, because he owns a 599.

i remember reading  Enzo Ferrari's quote, "I dream of becoming Enzo Ferrari."

Possibly the most badass quote ever... but now it seems like I've made it up.  Can't find mention of it anywhere  :'(

One of quotes that sticks in my mind " I make cars for young guys that only old guys can afford " or something to that effect

I recall Car & Driver getting their hands on a brand new Ferrari F-40 and a Diablo that the owner reportedly paid $1 million back in the early 90s and they trashed both cars and their build qualities which left a lot to be desired . The Lambo had piss-poor fit-and-finish , pieces were coming off , they said the Ferrari was better only because it had less pieces to fall off lol

No wonder why they tried to get their hands on a F-50 after multiple owners confirmed they would allow their cars to be tested backed out after Ferrari North America put the hammer down , they got one anyway and it didn't live up ( surprise , surprise ) to what Ferrari claimed and didn't even have a higher top speed than the current 550 Maranello of the time

Hell the Enzo is the first Ferrari to go over 200MPH , the F-40 never did , Road & Track tested a Euro-spec one sans cats in their annual ' Worlds Fastest Cars ' at VW's Ehra Lessien and it ' only ' went 196 MPH not the 201 they claimed , same with the F-50 but in the same breathe they'll spout the company ethos that Ferrari isn't about numbers  ::)

With all that said if I had the money I would by one in a moment

well, the Ferrari's interior was glued together, and there was like a metal wire thing to close the door, and the windows roll up, and the air conditioner barely works, no radio---it was truly a "race car foe the streets."

and Autocar or Evo had someone post on there what it takes now to maintain the cars---since the cars are 26 yrs old in some cases, damn near everything needs to be replaced, glue and everything.

Think of the Ferrari as the high maintenance Beautiful voluptous woman who knows that she has Everyman to do her bidding (Sophia Loren or Monica Bellucci).
Think of the Lambo as the slutty girl with banging body, who grew up to be a stripper/escort/Penthouse Pet.

One wear clothes that accentuates her curves, the other wears clothes that show her cleavage---all the time.

Ferruccio Lamborghini used to make tractors and he bought Ferraris and complained about the piss-poor clutches on them , Enzo told him to kick rocks and stick to building tractors so he decided to build his own cars

Ferrari's are more sophisticated looking and show some restraint - like BMW. The Lambos to me have a car kit appearance. Many are fugly when you take a close gander at them.

A Ferrari 250 I believe...
I really like the 330 GTC, if I ever have the money, that will be one car I will own, like Harry Metcalf's.
