Intermittent Fasting: Fad or Weightloss miracle?
« on: October 15, 2012, 12:05:29 PM »
A close family friend told me this morning that by using intermittent fasting he was able to not only lose 30 pounds over the course of 4-5 months, but that he even added a 1/2 inch to his penis for every 20 pounds lost.

What say you GetBig brethren, fad or weightloss miracle?

Also, maybe the great Johnny Falconius of the pyramid shits tribe of nibiru can chime in with some physiological know-how to properly guide us in discussion.

The catch is that he lost about 30 pounds over the course of 4-5 months.

Possible?

I am not sure.  I don't know anything about this approach to dieting, but if what they say is true regarding weightloss, maybe it's worth a try.

Supposedly there are differences for men and women.  Generally its 16hrs fasting for a guy.  I believe your first meal is your biggest, then a couple of other ones over the 8hrs.  I tried it, hated it, will never do it again.

I am sure it will be picked up mainstream very soon and you will see some infomercials on it with some "top celebrity trainer" pushing it.

Was it due to feeling too weak?

What's your approach to this diet?  In other words, what does your week look like (meals & fasting times) while on it?

I did it before I heard all the hype but I was scared I would lose muscle so I stopped... but there's no denying that I looked a lot leaner and wasn't shriveling like all the magazines had me thinking.

After finding that Lean Gains site I tried it again and it worked even better when I did it with a specific intent. I usually eat twice a day so I break the fast more often than not, but if I can fight the cravings I try eating in a 4-8 hour window and I find it leans me out considerably.

I love cooking and this lets me eat just one or two awesome meals a day, instead of stuffing myself with shit just because I "think" I'm supposed to be eating.

Over the summer I went two weeks where I only ate one meal per day on Tues,Wed,Thur.
I dropped close to 10lbs.

....losing weight and belly shrinking=more you can see of your penis=in one's mind a bigger penis.

So are you essentially supposed to eat in the early morning and then fast for the rest of the day?

I keep it very simple.  Eat 2-250 grams of protein, maybe 50 grams carbs, fats higher, stop eating at 8pm start eating around 10am.

Usually up at 7am so 3 hours with just coffee.

So the bulk of your fasting occurs mainly through the night with a ketogenic diet ensuing throughout the course of the day?

I don't think it's a miracle though.  I train my ass off!!  6-7 days a week, very intense training, and rarely do I skip days, even when traveling. That plus the diet, good to go.

On the lean gains site he says it doesn't matter. You tend to fast for 16 hrs and have an 8 hr eating window in a 24hr period. You choose the window that suits you best. It could be 2pm-10pm or 10am- 6pm. If you're up late a lot it could be 4pm- midnight...
